Nowadays, even supercar manufacturers, use a lot of plastics, aside from carbon fiber. Plastics are less durable but they are cheaper and easier to replace(and manufacture as well).
It is said in autoevolution that the Z4 would start at around €50,000(or $57,000). That makes sense for BMW since it’s a premium luxury automaker. The Supra, I think it will start somewhere in the mid $40k’s.
It still looks good, though it has less exciting design as compared to the concept, especially those parts behind the seats, along the trunk, the concept version looks like a spaceship from some angles. The new Z4 is no spaceship at all.
