I think MST just threw it in there as a quality of life update. it just slightly makes it easier to fit the whole inlet onto the turbo. I don’t think there is a real difference in doing one over the other.
it attaches to the turbo, uses the c-clip from the oem turbo inlet to attach and other side is fed into the silicone hose and clamped. I personally didn’t include it on my v3 and just went from the silicone hose clamped to the turbo (My armaspeed intake before switching to mst attaches that way too)
did the front brake pad sensor get tripped? I’d give that a look over if you haven’t checked it out. If the sensor has been tripped, it’ll keep having your “BRAKE” light showing. there is only 1 on the front and 1 on the rear. Give those a check before spending the money at the dealer.

Update: Got the car back after and he did an amazing job, can’t recommend this guy enough! Looks like nothing ever happened. He even nailed fixing the fender line which scared everyone i talked to about it.
So what did he do for any future members or PDR specialists looking for support:
He...
Hi all, I’m looking for some insight into the rear quarter panel for PDR work. I’m going through a buddy of mine to do some PDR work and this is his first Supra but he has done many other vehicles and I trust he’ll do a good job. He just has questions on approaching the dent and how to best get...
The paint on these cars is extremely brittle and i swear will chip away if you sneeze on it, but since it’s been PPF’d, toyota will most likely use that as an argument against you.
If you have a dealer you are close with maybe try them and convince them that the installer noticed there was...
when you say nullify, you mean that it brings back the wind issue if you already have deflectors? I was thinking of getting the m style mirror replacements but might reconsider if it just brings back the wind noise. I’ll just stick with stock if that’s the case
Mine does it as well and i’ve seen others comment in the past with having it too. so i think it may be just a “quirk” of the car. I know not a solution but maybe some peace of mind….. now if you do somehow fix it i’m interested to know so i can get rid of it for me too haha
Hmm okay, i guess in a way that’s good to know. I can focus on troubleshooting somewhere else.
All i have for me to use is the MHD app for data logging and code checking. been using AI and your site to make sense of the numbers.
If there is other software to be using, what do you recommend...
ah well i ended up just mating the silicon to the inlet and removed the metal piece all together. It’s tight in there but sealed up now. I did have a leak in the charge pipe but pretty confident it is patched up. There was smoke come from where the charge pipe meets the turbo so i removed the...
Yup, transferred the o ring and it looked fine and was lubricated by oil.
I smoke tested as I was investigating why the car was acting up and data logging showed that a potential reason was from boost leaks so yeah revealed a ton of leaks that i’m trying to patch up. no engine codes when i...
I just installed a new MST V3 intake and did a smell test after and was surprised to see how much smoke is spewing everywhere.
I followed the instructions and referenced an install video and kinda confused on why this is happening.
I sent a message out to the dealer to hear their thoughts...
Re-torqued everything and paint marked it. the louder clunk i was hearing in low speed and when switching between reverse and drive remained the same. So i assume it’s normal NVH that comes with having a brace 🫡.
Man I wish my OCD would let me live without thinking the world is ending with any...
That makes sense, but yeah i didn’t touch the fluid.
The slight clunk on low speed/near stop seems normal based on other responses so i rest easy with that knowledge.
I think what was scaring me the most though was how much noise and physical rock/jolt was coming from changing Drive to Reverse...
the only thing i can think of was, since i am limited on tooling, i had used my jack to lift the rear of the car via the differential itself (correct lift point via direction of another thread) and did the install that way that maybe putting on the brace while it was preloaded might have caused...
going to do a re-torque on the bolts. Initial week with the brace had no issues. I went out of town for a week and first day back i drove the car and noticed it having a clunk at low speed/rolling to near stop and it occurs when switching from drive to reverse (the chassis rocks/twists when...
