Kinda cool that itās being done...but $12k? On top of the price of the car and now voiding the warranty? (I wouldnāt place much stock in the āwarrantyā that the shop will offer).
No, thanks. I will not pay a 20% premium to get the transmission it should have come with. I wonder what they do...
No manual? No sale. It really is that simple for me. Automatics are for minivans and race cars. That likely makes me an anachronism. But Iām an anachronism with buying power that will be looking elsewhere.
The C8 comparison isnāt really valid, either. The C8 has a DCT, which is an entirely...
All the cars do mid 12s at 110-115- not slow! The Supra is clearly the value here, and from the reviews, compares very well subjectively.
If they do a manual, Iām in. Until or unless they do, Iām not. Call me old school, but Iāve never driven a sporty car that wasnāt more fun with three pedals...
Very impressive results. I wonder how relevant the prices are (meaning will Supras actually sell for MSRP or will there be a crazy ADM?).
My guess is ownership costs would make it a no-brainer.Porsche and BMW are notorious in that regard.
But the price point also puts it up against a C7, which...
Interesting how the price varies. I'd have thought that it would be much the same and most of the difference would come via how it is taxed. But I agree, $70k is too much.
In the US, Id say the projected of low to mid $50s is just about right. A bit more than a well optioned Camaro or Mustang...
yeah lol...but I'm pretty sure you took it as intended...which is to say that anybody that is willing to put up with that sort of commitment probably already has a Lotus :P
I wouldn't get too wrapped up by the HP ratings. It's far more important where and for how long that power is available. 3,400lbs is a bit porky, but it was about what I expected. The only people that would be pleased by stripping the weight down would be the people that wouldn't buy the car...
Hadn't given that much thought, but it makes sense; 350-ish bhp from an engine that size isn't unheard of w/o FI...they aren't leaning on it hard. And don't forget that on a motor like that, average hp across the band will be very good. Dyno graphs are some time off, but I wouldn't be surprised...
Some interesting gripes about Toyota not designing its own motor, and citing some of the other companies (notably GM, Ford and Fiat/Chrysler) that have. One thing that works in those companies' favor is that the motors in their performance cars share architecture with volume sellers in other...
I've seen guys with about 1,000hp go high 8s at 165 or so in an M3...with a cage and slicks. I have never seen 1,000hp in anything but a dyno queen or the local "fly by king" that didn't have a cage. At that point, it's kind of a drag only car. Not a bad thing in and of itself, but if one were...
I have no doubt whatsoever that this engine can be tuned beyond the chassis' ability to handle it without touching the long block. It won't hook, but the power will be there, for sure.
I've little doubt the car will trap at about 110-112 thru a quarter mile (not that it's a drag racer- just that quarter mile trap speed is about the most reliable measurement of HP vs weight), and that's certainly reasonably quick. Unlike the MkIV, it will be outgunned by the C7, and likely the...
yeah..I'm kinda with you there. They don't bother me as much, but to my eye some of the least appealing elements are those that are trying to look more "race derived." I still think it's a good looking car, but those elements aren't my favorite, either.
Aesthetically the car is appealing to me. The performance should be fairly good. The thing I have a hard time with is that it isn't fast enough to be automatic only (Enzo, GT3, et all...I get it. But at less than 400 hp and over 3200 lbs? not so much...maybe 110-112 mph thru the quarter...
Very nice looking car. And agreed, it does recall the 2000GT. Get a third pedal and color me interested...though I admit to having trust issues with anything BMW has had a hand in!
Some interesting stuff. I could see $170k for a vette if it's an evolution of what now sits in the line up as the ZR-1. Maybe. But if there isn't a vette for (well) under $100k, I think they will fail in the showroom. At around $80k, it could work even if there is no real progression beyond the...
Very interesting to see WHICH manual might be used, but ultimately interested to see IF a manual might be used. I know everyone sees this differently, but to ME, automatics are for race cars and minivans (or basic transportation cars). I always hear the argument that the automatic is faster...to...
