That’s why I sourced the trunk — validated fitment without needing a full car.
And for anyone willing to be the guinea pig, it mounts in the same bolt locations as the Verus wing. No redrilling.
The trunk I sourced had a wing on prior to purchase but was removed. I had the hole location...
The first test fit was…..
successful!
everything just fit… i made a decent amount of tolerance for the studs to go through, and they did, but with a tiny but of resistance. Putting the stud on after the backing plate was not problem though. The studs were a little short in the front… i...
The 3d printed wing is ready for test fitting so updates on that should be happening shortly. In the meantime I've been working on the model to make it production ready.
Deck Blade hollowed and cut in half. 1.5mm thick composite
Thread blocks will be added so the upper mounts thread in. itll...
I havent glued it together yet but these are the first prototype pics. Aside from the edge warping, it came out perfectly.
Seeing it for real is mind blowing…. seeing it as an actual product is going to be even crazier.
Ill try get it mounted on the trunk this weekend if possible. Still...
Yeah I noticed that in my testing... not huge returns unless you go excessively big... by moving the endplates up 5mm and scaled up 10% in size... I only saw 3 lbs of extra downforce and 2 lbs less drag... it all counts i guess but its negligible.
I like the basic look better too
Wings nearly done printing. Some of the parts have some warping so i need to try flatten them as much as possible (its not bad but my ocd cant allow it lol). In the meantime Ive taken a reddit request to make the end plates a bit smaller and i like the outcome better in all honesty and ive make...
Middle section came out looking great. This could definitely be a core for 1.5mm cf skin.
1/7 done
if i upgrade any of my equipment in the future itll be a new printer. Love my p1s but damn its a cramped build plate at only 256mm x3…. H2d or h2s is definitely on the wish list
Side A looking good... little size and design comparison from V1 to V4 now. 2 months of constant refinement. Im really liking where the design is now. It's really looking it belongs on the A90 (so far). Side B riser printing as of this writing. After that ill start with the deck. Since strength...
Top mounts done
You'll notice areas of under extrusion.... thats because the extruder is trying to pull filament but theres resistance when it needs more... using 3kg spools. Looks bad but just test fitting so surface quality isnt a concern.
these made out of cf would feel indestructible. The...
Some progress on the prints... over all came out nice... I've already made some adjustments to the trunk mounts... extended the base by 3mm... more thread for the studs to grab into on the cnc version and i added about 2mm of wall to the pocketing... None of that will require a reprint as it...
The idea is interesting but the packaging would be a nightmare to design around. Making it look physically acceptable for a street car would be a huge task as well, then making it affordable is another. People might want it if it were financially attainable.
One thing that would be viable in...
1 mistake I made was trying to fit a secondary element on that chord... main element needs to be brought down to like 210- 225mm, secondary 80-100mm.
I probably would not attempt a DRS type wing with this current wing deck profile... as much as I'd like to keep the curvature it would pose a...
There would be like 2 or 3 supports once its 100%, i just didnt add those in yet. I really like the idea of dual elements but its hard to make it look good... it really draws attention ..idk if thats good or bad yet
Edit: if i were to make a drs flap it would blend right into curvature of the...
Yeah that’s essentially how I’ve been treating it. I used lower res tests when making bigger design changes, then refined both the wing and parameters after.
Now I’ve bumped the resolution up to get a more accurate (and usually more conservative) result.
Might not be perfect in terms of...
I re-ran the same configuration (290mm chord, 3.5deg aoa base) at a much higher resolution — went from ~100k cells up to about 5.8 million.
The higher-res run actually gave more conservative results, which is what you’d expect as accuracy improves, but it still showed the same overall trend —...
