VIR is very easy on tires. Did 2 days on stock tires and had minimal wear. Brakes are another matter, and I made the mistake of trying to make stock pads work (this was last year so not many options available yet). Two huge braking zones per lap down from 140 mph or so to 55 or so and stock...
The B58 (like many modern engines) is designed to run hotter for efficiency and fuel economy. The computer controlled cooling system would run 111C (~230F) no matter how "big" a cooling system you put on the car.
An interesting fact (to me at least) is the car doesn't have "a radiator" but...
I saw the same thing when I purchased mine. Very quick and pretty even ramp up of temp for both coolant and oil. Definitely not "normal" so I did some research and the B58c design flows a good bit of coolant through the exhaust manifold which is build into the head. This heats up the coolant...
It's specs don't seem that bad from what I can tell, but it is one of those inherently hard to answer questions. It's all good until it's not.
Nearly all factory fill fluid is intended for street use and typically not very high boiling points. Flushing with good track oriented fluid (pick...
Sounds to me they got air in the abs during the work somehow. Wish they'd chime in, but that is the only thing that makes sense to me. I did it once...let master cylinder get empty when bleeding new fluid through and sucked air in from the top of the system....took forever to get that air out.
I pulled the pad sensors off the stock pads and onto the CSG pads (then back onto stock pads after track day). Wasn't any trouble, just careful to pull carefully from the plastic sensor not from the wire. You can zip tie them up out of the way for a track day if your track pad doesn't have...
I had the same issue with stock pads at my first track day at Virginia International Raceway. Fluid not boiling, but hot pads starting making for a very long pedal. My research showed that the CP pads would help some but would eventually do the same thing (long pedal from pads going past their...
I was kinda thinking they'd just melt or discolor after the first track day but they are holding strong. Did a full day with CSG CP pads, so got at least some decent heat into them.
Have had several cars that do this...all german. Keeps the wipers from getting stuck on windshield or dry rotting in the same position. Looks like an electrical glitch, but after you understand why it seems like pure german genius. Another BMW feature built in to the Toyota!
Nope....dead stock except brake pads.
Ford wouldn't disclose what happened and couldn't tell me if the issue was fixed for my new replacement motor. Not the best customer service. They have had plenty of Voodoo motor issues and they know what is failing (actually multiple issues...some burn...
Guess i gotta chime into this tread, not only since i have owned both (18' GT350 and currently own Supra) but also couldn't read the section quoted above without a reply.
Loved the GT350 enough to buy one....great drivers car and really fun when pushed hard. Did a track day at local road course...
A few pics of some "Brembo" stickers just to give you an idea what they look like. No track yet but will report back after next track day on how they hold up. Got them on amazon....I think these were the ones...
I have had both. I wouldn't compare them directly unless you are only shopping "Toyota" (actually Subaru vs. BMW) as there are some better "in-between" options out there. The 86 wins in two main categories....price and it has an available manual transmission. Other than that the Supra is to...
I also got mine from Milton Reuben in Augusta, GA early on for MSRP. Great guys (Al Plemming sales and Paul Nopper manager). Looks like they have a black, silver and red all premium pkg. Bought several cars there and they are super easy to deal with.
Nice....love the LE wheels vs my premium wheels. Crazy what a little chrome can do (not my thing). Where did you get the LE wheels? Been looking for a place to get them for a reasonable price (i.e. not the dealer)
I can't hardly see it and never noticed it before, but mine has the same hole. Assume it is just normal manufacturing artifact. There ya go....got off my fat butt and went to the garage (for a beer) and confirmed it is normal. The title of this thread may be why you got 132 views!!
Good to hear. I am used to doing 20-25 min sessions with no cool down. Track can make a huge difference....VIR has two braking zones from 140 down to 45-50 mph.
Driving style can definitely make a difference in temps as well.....left foot braking being one big factor these days.
Really...
Might hit up AMS or forum vendor that sells Titan 7 wheels. AMS just put 18x10" square setup (Titan 7's) on their track test car. Sounds like the way to go. Here is a link to the track test they just posted today.....
Great daily...good front splitter clearance, tires are good in rain and cold, dual mode exhaust for when you just want to cruise, good stereo, good gas mileage, plenty of interior room, seats are not a pain to get in/out of, miles don't kill resale, etc, etc. Very lucky I can dive it nearly...
