It will only overwrite any coding done to the headunit ecu... the headunit ecu will have to be recoded with whatever features the customer wants, but as @BIMMER-REMOTE said, he already rolls that service into his update service, just have to let him know what you need recoded!!!

Pretty sure with the firmware update it changes some can-bus I/O coding for the steering wheel controls... like for use with ecutek antilag, map switching etc... again this all speculation, but I am not taking any chances... and I definitely don't wanna pay for unlock service again...
