I took mine in for an oil change at a dealership and it started to smoke as you described. After about a month of searching forums I took it to a BMW mechanic who did an oil change. Problem has been gone since.

Original owner, 68k Miles daily driver and road trips. Can't fit more than 2 people or a ladder in it but otherwise I use it for everything.

Normal oil burn for B58. Look on forums, tons of threads about this.

Mine does that when running e30/50 blends. Something with the ethanol that makes it crank a little longer on cold start.

What kind of burning smell? Oil, gas, rubber, electrical?
