I always find it strange that Toyota made the decision to sell this car with summer tires and heated seats, not cooled. A head scratcher, for sure.
I have a set of winters ready to go on when the temps start to dip. Saves me from putting extra miles on the (much more expensive) summer tires.
Second report at 5000 miles (2500 miles on oil)
GR branded 0w-20 seems to wear pretty well. On Liqui-Moly 5w-30 now, but I'm definitely not against 0w-20 in this motor (besides the price, at least.)
Is yours white? If so I've probably passed by you a handful of times on Washington Blvd in Elkridge.
There are some fun, albeit short, twisties in the backroads between Elkridge and Hanover.
Nope

Did a track day at 1900, changed oil at 2500 miles with OEM GR 0w-20, measured it just before draining and it showed max. Did another track day at 3000 miles, just changed it again at 5000, measurement before draining again showed max.
Here's my Blackstone report on my factory fill oil sample taken at 2500 miles, for whoever's interested. Followed the manual (for the most part) for the first 1200 miles, had a track day at 1900 miles, and a good bit of spirited driving on the roads mixed with regular cruising.

iirc Mobil 1 doesn't make oil that meets BMW's spec. It is highly recommended that you use an oil that specifically states it meets BMW's LL-14FE for 0w-20, or LL-01 for anything 0w-30 and up.
