It is noticeably louder than stock in normal mode. The valve seems to be open on cold starts and above 3500 RPM. When just driving around town at super low RPMs, it's definitely noticeable. Cruising on the highway, it's pretty quiet. Please take this with a grain of salt though. I do have an AA...
This exhaust was used for 5 months. I just switched to a different exhaust system, so I'm offering this one up for sale. I'm in the greater Philadelphia area. $750 cash or PayPal.
I'm pretty sure they were just rubbing at the track for me. IMO, running 5mm spacers is the way to go. I did a stud conversion with Motorsports Hardware studs and I'm really happy with the whole package. Best of luck with everything!
FWIW, I have an Apex 18" square setup and I like it. You might already be aware, but Apex has Supra-specific fitment info here: Running 18" Wheels On GR Supra? Choose your tires wisely. (apexwheels.com). You may be able to run some 275s in the front w/o spacers, but in my experience, even with...
Ok, yeah this was definitely more than 2 months ago. It might still be worth contacting them. I got right through to someone who was helpful in my case. Maybe they could send the old bolt or something??? I know a lot of people who are interested in the SPL parts are also interested in running 18s!
FWIW, I was worried about this too when I had the SPL parts installed, but I was able to fit 18s with no problems. I ended up contacting SPL at one point and they were very helpful - maybe they can advise.
FWIW, the Throttle House guys were pretty unimpressed with the new M2 as well. I guess it's following the industry trend by getting bigger, heavier, and more powerful, but it's not for me either. I still think the first gen M2s are great, but I'll pass on the new ones and keep my Supra.
Thanks for the reply. I was in the same boat, but I haven't gotten any overheating on track since replacing the fluid. I guess that goes with the territory of compromises for the track: squeaky brakes, noisy diff, chipped up windshield...
I'm interested as well. I just ordered a set of Paragon rotors last week, but I haven't received them yet. I'll be putting them through their paces with several HPDEs this year. My stock rotors warped.
