My experience with local shops including dealers has been less than acceptable to the point I didnt feel I had much if any help if something should go wrong.
This was part of why I decided to recently sell my 2021 Premium 3.0 liter with less than 6k miles with the steering wheel vibration issue...
That's interesting and possibly useful to.know.
A couple questions-
1. Can you elaborate on how you determined the resonance issue is fixed? Roads, speeds, miles covered with the new tires.
2. What tires did you purchase to replace the oem tires? How many miles had you on the originals before...
To date just living with my 2021 Premium. The best info I've gathered so far came from an engineer, automotive from his knowledgable way of expressing possibilities which were resonance in the body work interaction with running gear and road surface....stated that spot weld locations and such...
Thanks for your input though it's not good news for that substantial repair.
I no longer believe in the dealer- corporate system for investigating this defect. The dealer tech looked me in the eye and said it's normal, therecis no problem. Toyota followed suit saying techs "were their eyes and...
I dont see the source of the problem identified yet.
That article suggests a possibility.
I wait for Toyota to put its engineering know how if they havent already but are not disclosing their findings and sharing this with paying customer/ owners- folks that bought these cars based in part on...
I suggested in a previous post we get some numbers of how many of our cars have this issue so we can get Toyota to begin to pay attention.
I suggest, again, we begin collect this and get it to Toyota.
Thank you for that information, much appreciated and saves me from $$ in trying new tires.
I did alignment and road force balance ( re- checked) and no change, no improvement.
Can we get a head count on how many GR Supras are exhibiting this issue? And also include folks you know who might not be on this forum.
Numbers and documentation might be enough to get Toyota tech help in diagnosing and finding a fix instead of individual sporadic cases.
I'm glad mine is not the only one but I guess I'm curious and just obsessive compulsive enough to keep trying.
Whatever it is its transmitted up through the steering rack/box.
Is steeting wheel wobble or humming? Mine is a rise and fall harmonic about 1 second intervals.
I thing radial and axial runout of the tire, wheel and brake disc would be a first step in diagnosis. Then hub disassembly for inspection.
That's ahead for mine and what I will request....and not from...
US dealerships have their profit centers in service and parts depts.
I think that's why so many service depts seem to size the customer up for what they can get out of them instead of providing true customer service. My cynicism has been reinforced by local dealer service dept where I bought my...
Interesting and I've had the same thought. I keep wondering if they wont respond to what I consider a minor, simple problem (?) what happens if theres a more complex major issue. One has the sense theres really no warranty, no safety net with addressing after sale issues.
The whole idea of...
I've already had my say/criticisms about after sales customer support. But I'm not one to pass up a chance to describe my dealer service disappointment and " blow off" by being told " that's normal" when I hoped to get the steering wheel buzz fixed.
The service mgr I met with after I expressed...
