nothing is āuncrackableā. if someone wants to get into the ecu, theyāll find a way.
give this ecu to samy kamkar (famous security researcher), and i bet heāll find a way in.
Anyone disappointed that the GR Corolla will only be half as good as the GR Yaris just based on weight alone?
Itās safe to assume power output will be the same at about 260HP.
The GR Yaris is 2,8xx lbs. The Corolla hatchback is 3,0xx lbs. Even if the Gr Corolla doesnāt gain any weight, which I...
Having physical access to the ECU will greatly increase the attack surface. I think itās just a matter of demand and willingness for someone to break in.
I was implying it probably won't be as locked due to it being a Japanese branded ECU. The ECUs are usually just made from an OEM supplier. Probably Denso? I don't think Toyota has much to say in terms of security of the ECU.
The Supra is just using a BMW ECU as far as I can tell. Most Euro ECUs...
I may be reading a little too much into this but from Toyota's page:
I completely expect the US GR Corolla to receive the same engine and some kind of AWD system, and stiffer suspension. I don't expect the dual LSD and maybe it won't have the advanced 3 modes either. I can see this being...
I completely expect the GR Corolla to be about 200lbs more than the GR Yaris. Even if they brought all the hardware from the GR Yaris, it would still be inferior due to the weight increase.
I don't see Toyota using any exotic materials to reduce the weight of the current Corolla.
I don't see Toyota adding a manual handbrake just for the GR Corolla when all the other Corolla trims have an electronic handbrake. The Civic Type R doesn't get a manual handbrake just like the other Civic trims.
I really can't see Toyota US giving the GR Corolla all the GR Yaris hardware, but...
So GR Yaris is built to meet WRC production requirements.
Assuming Toyota isnāt going to be campaigning the Corolla in WRC, I donāt think the GR Corolla will be as hardcore as the Yaris. Probably wonāt get the dual LSD and weigh 200-300lbs more. Just my predictions. If thatās the case, Iām...
@Galerion, I also have an FK8 Type R and agree pushing it over 140mph, the car is still very stable. On my previous 2015 WRX, the car would get unsettled as soon as you hit the brakes.
How would you compare the GR 1.6T engine with the FK8 engine? I don't anticipate the GR Yaris engine to be as...
