It's almost as if they expect the Z4 M40i to sit in the show room for 300+ days at least, so they make the margins so high on it they only need to move a few to justify its existence. at 65K you open up serious competition for performance where the M40i was never intended to compete with...
lol i hope to be proved wrong but i have very little faith in how toyota will price this car. folks who think "look ma my supra runs circle around a corvette and it's cheaper" are going to be very disappointed next year.
ppl saying the I6 will start at 50K is out of their frigging mind(i secretly hope they are correct but there's just no way). chances are the I6 will start at 57K and top out at 68K

Jalop is saying $65K. IMO that's a tad too much. $55K would've been a good start to undercut the 718 Cayman PDK which starts at $60K. We know the supra will have more options and is probably faster(although...
IMO the people who claim they'll buy the new supra on the internet will account for very little of the total sale. the car's probably gonna start off strong for a year or two like the 86 and slowly wane. it's a tough market segment supra is trying to compete in, way too many choices for a fast...
Just saw this...wow what a fricking disappointment, they are sticking a 330i engine in this car? front and rear calipers from a 5 series? I'm moving my position on this car from "hopefully optimistic" to "too hyped up and will flop". my guess is toyota's gonna make this car, media will praise it...
brz has two more seats and they get cross shopped with miata, 911 has two rear seats and gets cross shopped with amg gt. people will cross shop M2 and supra
it's almost given that supra will start higher than $50K, anyone thinking that it won't is simply lying to themselves. there's no version of the car that'll start below $50K or anywhere close to $45K. Most likely it'll start around $53K-$57K
look at it from another perspective, do you think...
it's probably going to be $55-60K with performance comparable to the corvette. if it goes above $65K then it's DOA and will be out of production again for another 3 decades.
You can get a lot of very capable cars for under $100K. the new supra is never going to, or intended to compete with something like the Camaro ZL1 1LE, Corvette Z06 or 718 GTS. it's not in the same league.
depending on what the final price is, it's either going to compete very well against the...
M240i starts at $45K, if Supra is using the same B58 engine(almost confirmed) and does 0-60 in 3.8s, there's no way it'll be priced cheaper than $45K. BMW simply won't allow it. My guess is it's going to start at no less than $49K and can be optioned up to $55K. A cheaper 718 non-S alternative...
yep, at $60K starting price, the supra will no longer be competitive in the market. it needs to take advantage of the 45-55K relatively empty space in the performance car category. $60K pits it against well established competitors, at $49K or $52K it'll look like the bargain of the century...
Camaro SS, Mustang GT 0-60 3.9s. 5-60 4.3s ish, $37K-$39K
M240i 0-60 4.2s, 5-60 5.2s, $45K (turbo so 5-60 takes a hit)
C7 auto 0-60 3.7s, 5-60 3.9s. $58K
718 PDK 0-60 3.9s, 5-60 5.1s, $59K
718 S PDK 0-60 3.6s, 5-60 4.3s, $72K (no idea how 718 S 5-60 is this fast from a turbo 4)
if Supra is 0-60...
