Factory Exhaust Break-In?

I've noticed my exhaust getting louder ever since I started driving it harder after the 1200 mile break in period. Do factory mufflers "break in" over time?

Edit: side note, I've had the active sound disabled almost from day 1.

Yes there is a "break in" period. Mine is louder now.
