Wednesday, I installed a BM3 stage 2 tune on my 40k miles 2020 supra. Ran great and felt great. This morning i noticed the car bogging on the highway, in sport display the HP was constant +-10hp up and down, stopped and restarted the car. no issues. Almost to work I did a pull and noticed some white smoke. Bam more white smoke, pulled over, of course in a dead zone with zero tools to check anything. Risked it to get to town to check things out. Smoking out the highway. Weirdly there was no white smoke while in boost but below 30000rpm there is smoke, no weird sounds and had couple of mechanics look at it.
It was oil blowby most likely. Slight Oil in chargepipe, haven't taken the DP or turbo off yet. Checked oil in idrive and level is normal (don't know how trusting that is)
Will get it towed home and see later but. It is boggy in reverse and low speeds but fine at higher speeds.
Safe to say it's the turbo and should be replaced. What are the best options for a daily? replace with stock, pure or a DAW. I rather have a quick turn around so top mount isn't an option.

Any other insight is welcomed, t

What’s your plans with the car? Not sure what to recommend without knowing what direction you want

Daily, reliable, maybe 500hp on 91 is my dream though.

Close to 500 whp seems pretty possible with the results people have been getting from Pure, CTS, etc stock location hybrid turbos on 91 octane. Plus stock location turbos look stock.

Might see how much it is to rebuild the turbo and go from there. DAW is something i was looking at but I thought people were having issues with the new ones.

I went with a custom bottom mount G35-1050 setup so that I can use the HKS intake. This setup also will fit the OEM intake if you want that stealth look.

Which kit is that?
Sounds like what I want.

Do you know exactly how much boost that tune was targeting or how much boost it made before the turbo failure?

I know it gets flack, but for that power goal, the CTS is a great and not too expensive option, some people don't love them, I have had fairly good luck with them. Really boils down to budget, build plans, time etc.

For what it's worth, I purchased a CTS turbo and let it sit around for months without installing. I figured without more octane it would not be much better than BM3 stage 2 ots with stock turbo and water meth. I was wrong, the CTS is awesome and I can't believe the difference in power with the same pump gas 92 and water meth. I'm kicking myself for not installing it sooner. Granted there is the terrible reputation of CTS turbo CHRA failing on a couple units. Other than that; I'm loving the CTS kit and would recommend it to others, even with low octane like 91 octane and water meth.
