Rexpeed carbon fiber spoiler issues

I'm not sure if anyone else has had the chance to install and eventually remove the Rexpeed carbon fiber spoiler yet, but I've had mine installed for about 2 1/2 months. This week I caught a good deal on a new Seibon spoiler, so I decided to make the switch.

In removing the spoiler, I was disappointed to see my paint come up damaged. My car only has 2,500 miles on it, and I couldn't have driven over 500 miles in the time since the Rexpeed spoiler was installed.

I used the supplied 3M tape, and followed the install instructions to the letter. To me, it looks like the tape around the edge wasn't thick enough, and allowed a gap between the spoiler and the hatch to let dirt or small rocks lodge and dig into the paint. I've tried to buff it out, but it looks like the entire piece is going to need a respray.

There is also nothing in the corner of the spoiler to pad it from the corner of the hatch, which lead to some serious scratches.

In addition to that, it looks like about 80% of the surface area of the tape never even touched the hatch surface, making it likely to fly off at a high enough speed.

I'm not sure I expect Rexpeed to do anything about it, but I just wanted to see if anyone else experienced a similar issue - or perhaps warn people to find a better way to mount the spoiler to the hatch.

That is unfortunate. I was sitting here wondering how debris could get between the spoiler and the deck lid but then watched your video. There was a gap between the tape that could certainly let some water/debris in between. I'm no expert just looking for root cause. The abrasion on the trailing edge of deck lid is strange also. It's almost as if the spoiler had slight movement/flex to allow it to abrade the paint like that. Thanks for posting. On the bright side it's not a large area so hopefully won't cost a lot to repaint.

I was going to use fishing line, but once it cleared the little bit of tape at the corner, the rest just lifted off - wayyyyy too easily

Here I am.
Just a kind reminder that the 3M adhesive tape should be destroyed from all attached area by fishing line before removing.
And we'd use the thinner tape into the small gap between the spoiler and the trunk to protect the trunk before pull off the spoiler as well since even the 3M adhesive tape is destroyed by the fishing line, it would still need some strength to remove it and we don't want to take the risk to hurt the trunk.

For those who don't want to read that much words, here's the summary: If the 3M adhesive tape is destroyed completely, it will be easier for you to remove the spoiler.

Thats the issue. 80% of the tape didn't even attach to the trunk because its too thin.

I'll add that I have zero issues with the quality of the spoiler itself. It looks great, the fitment is perfect, and is very high quality. But the tape and instructions provided for installation is what destroyed my paint and I recommend making adjustments to both of those for future customers.
