Seems like most dealers are still pushing MSRP or a slight premium. Was wondering if anyone has recently gotten a new Supra and what if any discounts are you getting?

Thanks

are you sure these slight premiums isnt the delivery processing handling fee included ($995) in their sale price? Thats what i forgot to take note of when i was shopping around in Cali

They can give you $3,500 off sticker for a 3.0 with Driver’s Assist Package. The MSRP is $56,760 w/ cargo mat and $995 delivery & shipping. The dealer invoice for that car is $50,702, really a little less because the invoice cost of the assist package is in the $1,000 range. Deduct the dealer hold back of $1,080, and they are buying that car for around $49,600. That said, there is $7,000 of margin on that car. Be fair and split it with them and go out the door for $53,000. It can be done.

i say dont be afraid to shop outside of your usual radius. some dealers will deliver the car or at least halfway haha. my car is supposed to be delivered to my home which is 4.5 hrs away from the dealer but still in Cali

Could always do a say similar persuading tactics they would use like:
  • who is bold enough to buy a $50k+ 2 seater sports car during a pandemic
  • how long have your prior supras stayed on your lot compared to your other vehicles
    - if i buy this car at a discount realistically what are the chances of not being able to stock a similar spec car in time for when a willing customer would actually buy at your asking price. (a profitable sale is better than no sale)
  • in terms of markup, if wanted to buy a 60k car id buy a 60k car not a 50k car being sold at 60k
  • tell them you'll shop around other dealers outside your radius if you need to because youve done your research and people are in fact getting deals on 2021s from their dealers.
I've said all these things when i was shopping around for an A91 about a month ago. And im still getting calls from dealers I've talked to saying theyre now willing to accept my offer

My dealer carried over 50% the rebate to the 2021. I have money down on an Absolute Zero Premium slightly under sticker.

marin toyota sells all their cars at MSRP minus toyota/dealer specials

when i was shopping around moss bros, autonation cerritos, riverside also said they would sell at MSRP. There were a few others that I dont remember off the top of my head.

If i were you I would call up those places first and if for some reason you still cant find one:
https://www.toyota.com/dealers/California click through those lists and start calling around. I ended up calling 30+ dealers to find the deal i was looking for and allowed me to put on a deposit at the time of inquiry. As far as i can tell most the dealers i called were selling their supras at MSRP while a91 editions were the ones that had markup although no one had 2021 supras at this point in time. I would also say that youre willing to put in a deposit right now so they know youre a serious buyer therefore more willing to talk numbers with you

also depends on if u are trying to find a car immediately or can wait. Personally with new cars I will always have them built. Not trying to pay full value on dealer lot cars that were probably abused during spirited test drives with randos.

Thank you for such a thoughtful reply, I will start calling around!

The tip with waiting for the car to be built is a good one. I was considering a red 3.0 premium supra that was sitting at Culver City, but they are asking over 10k. I thought Id reach back out and talk numbers with them but, yeah, I don't think I'd want a car that's been sitting in the lot.

LOL. I remember calling up culver city. thats the same markup they had for their a91 edition. definitely go somewhere else. It's like theyre trying to not sell any supras or something
