Are you speaking from experience? Or from "trust me bro"?
I thought the stock tires didn't need a burnout, so I didn't do it for the first few runs. I was getting quarter mile times of 12.9 to 13.3 that way. Once I started doing a short burnout before, I started running 12.4 consistently.
On my '24 auto, completely stock at the time including tires, doing a short burnout dropped my 1/4 mile time and made the car more consistent run to run.
I switched to map 2 and did a couple runs - log here. Trim is pretty high and there was a major throttle cut around 3.5-3.7K RPM on both runs. Looks like boost and trim were way too high there. Too much E? Or maybe the car behaves differently at 3K ft above sea level?
Here's the map 1 log again...
OK, I gave in and went to the one gas station in town with E85. I got 2.5 gallons of E85 and the rest 91 octane. Log here. Does it look OK? I see that trim is around 45 around 3K RPM but then drops at higher RPM. Should I try map 2, or will that be too much?
Oh yeah, the CEL is from the cat, not JB4. I was just saying that even though there is a cat, maybe its impact on boost control is closer to catless than to stock.
I was thinking that maybe the AA high flow cat was making the throttle closures worse on map 0. It's not catless, but it does trip the CEL if I'm shifting around 3K RPM a few minutes after starting the car. Seems that if I shift around 2-2.5K RPM, then no CEL. Once the car has been running for...
I'm 90% sure I had TC off for all of my data logs. I have noticed that ignition timing drops around 3-3.5K RPM pretty consistently. That's around the same RPM where I see throttle cuts, though the throttle cuts seem less consistent than the timing drops.
One thing I've noticed is that timing...
So if the OEM mapping closes the throttle like this, how can we expect to not have this while running a JB4? In this thread people have mentioned that the throttle shouldn't go below 80% with the JB4 while the pedal is at 100%, but I was seeing 47% on map 0. Or am I missing something?
I'm still sometimes getting throttle closures around 3.2-3.5K RPM. The interesting thing is that I get throttle closures even on map 0. Today out of 4 runs on map 1, the first 2 had closures and the last 2 didn't.

I wonder if I just got some shit gas. Hereās a log on map 0. Seems like the timing is still pretty bad. I had just filled up at Chevron this morning, Iāll try Shell next time.
I changed duty_35 and duty_40 and collected another log. One small throttle closure on this run so better than before, not sure if timing is OK. Is map 1 just too much for my fuel?

Hey guys, awesome thread. I've read the entire thing, but now that I have the JB4 installed and got a log collected, it's a lot of info to decipher. I'd appreciate some help.

AA high flow cat, otherwise stock.
3K ft above sea level.
91 octane, it's the max we have...
Iāll try out the OEM cover then, and look at ordering this if I find it bending.
Where did you get your cover? Are we able to order the OEM one through Toyota, or do we still have to order from third party sites in Japan?
Will this work with the OEM leather cover, to give it a solid backing? I'm tired of my elbow falling in the cupholder, and it sounds like the OEM cover isn't meant for resting your elbow on it.
I thought Iād get pushback about it, but they didnāt say anything at all. Like theyāre used to dealing with Supra people haha. It is the highest Toyota dealer by volume in my state so they probably see a lot of them.
If youāre at stock height, Race Ramps would work for changing oil. I got a...
I had Toyota change the oil on my Supra at around 2.5K miles. They marked it as the 10K service in their system. They donāt care when exactly you get the 2 free oil changes.
What was the fix? Was it a spacer for the 2nd O2 sensor?
I have the AA catted down pipe and the CEL comes and goes on its own. It seems to light up when revving the engine to around 3K too soon after startup, even though the engine temp gauge shows the engine is warm.
When looking at the same year and miles, Iām seeing similar prices for auto and manual; low $50Ks and up. Of course there are older and higher mileage autos out there and those are obviously cheaper than low mileage examples. I was looking at used autos before buying a new ā24, and it wasnāt...
I turned ASD off on my stock auto Supra and like it much better in sport mode this way. ASD has a really annoying tone at 2-3K RPM, it only sounds good above 3K IMO.
