That's what I was thinking, too. It may be too much of a hassle to get the plastic box out of there at this point.

I looked at my OBD port today and noticed there was already something plugged into it! I took off the plastic panel above the pedals and was able to remove what I think is a cable for a GPS tracker: ...but as you can see, I wasn't able to reach far enough up into the dash to remove the plastic...

Is anyone more familiar with fluid API standards able to answer this question? Both fluids are GL-5 rated so I assume either will be okay, but are the extra ratings on the GEAR 300 (non LS) beneficial?

I never did find out what it was. I was going to call the local Toyota dealer but the sound seemed to get quieter and quieter over the following days and weeks. I think it still squeaks every once in a while during cold starts but it's so minor that I don't think I'm going to get it looked at...

Thank you for the responses so far. I think it's unlikely that the noise is from the interior. It echoes off the garage walls and gets noticibly more difficult to hear after I've backed out of the garage. I can open the hood and see if that makes it louder. I'll schedule an appointment with the...
