We saw a rumour a while back that the 4-cyl Supra would actually mark the return of the Celica name.
To me this makes perfect sense.
Release the Supra first with around 350bhp B58 for ÂŁ50k, then once the dust settles drop the ÂŁ25k GT86 from the lineup and have the ÂŁ28k Celica reborn also. But...
Totally!
I've owned a 86 for just over a year and I'm extremely sceptical on this whole cog statement. I don't see how you can make an inline six with a lower center of gravity than a flat 4.
I can only assume that its the full supra body mass itself vs the 86 that gives it a lower cog and not...
I suspect the more powerful version will be significantly more expensive than the base 6-Cyl Supra. And if the base car has a B58 I'll be quite happy to save loads of money and go with this. As we've seen that engine is making colossal power numbers in the BMW 40i models.
Assuming a BMW ECU is...
As this engine doesn’t exactly match a B58, the throttle body is much bigger and its part numbers dont even roughy match the B58 codes, could we be looking at the S58 here?
On closer inspection of that close up picture of the throttle body I see part codes a2c11226200 and 8667415, but cant find any existing bmw parts with either number. So must be a brand new part.
Also did you notice the “Toyota Supra” Logos stamped on top of the wings?
Looks like at least two mules are out running different wheels/brakes combo's. I noticed some prototypes are running single pot sliding calipers and some are runing a set of 4-pot BMW M Calipers similar to those found on the M2.
So I would expect a low blow entry level with around 330bhp and...
Cool story bro...
Interestingly I'd have said the opposite. With production of the Supra almost certainly being handled by BMW on the same production line as the Z5 in Graz Austria, it would make sense to use the same proven DCT Getrag Gearbox across both models.
The MK4's 6-Speed manual was...
I see, so the pics arent new. But what about the gearbox rumour? Has this been mentioned before?
Im not aware of any Toyota specific Dual Clutch transmission. So I can only assume its the same ZF box that BMW use.
If you check out the interior pictures from this thread you can see clearly its...
Hey guys,
Has anyone picked up on this yet? A new news article that surfaced yesterday.
https://www.opptrends.com/2018-toyota-supra-price-release-date/
If im not mistaken, we havent seen these particular pics before?
Also according to this article the new Supra will get "Toyota’s first...
If all four previous generations had circular lights then it would be wrong not to bring them back for the mkv. But as it was only the mkiv that had them id say leave them out; as the circular tail lights look dated now.
For me, the main thing that links all the Supra's together has been a...
I dont rate turbos, I prefer a more incremental torque to rpm power delivery. Would much prefer a supercharger as it keeps the engine feeling more NA.
Besides an electric supercharger isnt the same anyway. It throws the rule book out the window.
Hi Guys,
Newbie to the forum.
This sounds like great news! I think the Supra really needs to bring something new to the table and be a game changer.
If they can somehow bring a Supra along with an Electric Supercharger and keep the cost below the RC-F then they will be onto a winner here.
