Toyota had a chromosome laying around and gave it to the soupra.
This is your flagship , toyota?
This is exciting, toyota? What an eye-sore.
Better fucking deliver.
Hybrid guaranteed.
Was informed it will be highest trim of the 4 banger by a toyota dealership owner. Even hearing this was questionable because I assumed GRMN trim was going to be hybrid
Torque is a natural characteristic of straight inline engines whereas with engines in V configurations lack torque. V Config engines are required to be on the higher end of the RPM to produce the desirable driving characteristics.
370z just weighs like a tank atm. Needs to go on a diet...
I'll save others some time by re-posting what I had posted earlier.
There are definitely better makes and models (as listed above). If it tops at the supposed $63,000 mark, this car is a total bust. The general public would rather own

Revival of Supra because of

What puzzles me is that it makes no sense to do a joint venture with BMW.
BMW comes NO WHERE NEAR toyota in sales, volume, and most importantly, Research and Development.
Toyota...
BMW and Toyota came in with an idea to do a joint project to build a "said" vehicle. This will help cut cost by sharing the build blue prints and shared parts. However, within the contract was a detailed arrangement of shared application of BMW's and Toyota's patents. (basically usage of their...
Toyota will offer multiple trim levels. It has been said many times.
Gr or GRMN or Gazoo
However, those trim levels may be just suspension tuning, racing stickers or "fast" badging (TRD Racing) with no performance upgrades.

Sadly, this over boost hype is a coined...
What we (this forum) just did was TROLL every news or auto editors on non-factual evidence. Those that reported without crediting this forum or users have no credibility.
It is just plagiarism
Subaru and Toyota -> BRZ = FRS
BMW and Toyota -> Z4 =/ Supra
Toyota learned a bit from the contract they had with Subaru. When teaming up with BMW, terms are different.
Enjoy.
Supra MKIV = 320 HP 3,4xx lbs
Supra MKV = ~330-350+ HP (maybe more with +37 hp overboost) ~ 3,3xx lbs
Guys, it is time to realize that sub 3,000 is too far from being true. The added safety features and...
Isnt this the same application used already in the Dodge Ram trucks/Jeep Wrangler?
Assuming the 48v system is used to help keep fuel economy numbers up (from only a standing still), this may be used with "auto-stop-start" technology.
Wouldn't this be patent infringing?
EDIT: Whoops. Didn't...
So, this new engine will be a completely new engine. Designed by Toyota and sourced/manufactured by BMW.
Being it is subbed 3000 lbs with +400hp makes me happy...Just concerns with the equipment and safety add ons vehicles must possess to make it road legal.
Do you know if this engine will be...
That is interesting to hear. I wonder why they would develop a new engine line for the Z5/Supra. The B55/S55(S58?) are the new corporate engines that they model all cars from. This will be interesting to see how this all plays out.
Will Lexus USA kill off the Gs series line?
Just a mere speculation for the V35TT
BMW have done inline 4, Inline 6 (NA and Turbos) and V8 for the F10 and E60.
Oh well, I can just dream about then.
A Straight 6 fits longitudinally - hence, the nature of straight 6 cars have a long hood. A V6 (even with turbos) can easily fit into that engine compartment with engine mounts. It will be nearly half the length with less weight. Do we know if the B58 engine uses a iron block? Toyota can save...
Just caught up on this thread after finals.
There will be a BMW sourced straight 6. However, @justbake may be right. Toyota (or representatives) never confirmed or denied the use of VA35 V6TT. All car manufactures develop engines for many shared applications. An engine design, development...
