According to Toyota they talked to Supra fans/enthusiasts and a M/T was not a big requirement. :bs:
I think BMW decided that the 3.0L Supra will not get a manual. Toyota either didn't have a say in this or doesn't care.
The newly released 3 series (G20) has 374PS for the EU version (with filter) and 382hp US so i find it strange for BMW/Toyota to release their new sportscars around the same timeframe with less power.
Who would have thought a few years or even months ago that the new "Supra" will be...
This is getting better by the hour...
They weren't able to integrate an existing BMW / ZF manual transmission
They weren't able to squeeze even one extra hp out of the B58 with their own "tune"
...
But at least they added two even less powerful engines... what's next, the 1,5L B37 Diesel?
That's quite expensive, I was expecting the base model somewhere around 50-55k€
I'm curious how fast they will outsell their even more expensive predecessor though. 500+ in Germany and around 1700 MKIVs in Europe within 3 years.
It's like the old saying "Horsepower sells cars, but torque wins races". But why not both? :)
I'm just trying to find out what Toyota did with the calibration. People were like "OMG Toyota is doing their own tuning, it's going to be a completely different car". What did they do exactly? Modify...
Yeah I understand that, but why would they put themselves in a disadvantage in their biggest market (US)?... just doesn't make sense to me especially considering the constant backlash from the car community, I really thought they were listening and trying to improve the car...
Maybe they just...
Overpromise and underdeliver?
I just don't get it... one of the few tasks Toyota had in this project was apparently the engine calibration for the Supras B58. Why on earth would they detune the engine from 382 to 335hp for the Supra, why not at least keep Z4 power levels?
A few of my own...
Add a BMW Xdrive and this thing would be able to compete with the Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross.
Sadly they had to make a lot of design compromises with the Z4 platform, that is really obvious when you compare the FT-1 concept and the A90. That said, I like the side profile (apart from the...
