Souls games, easily. Dark Souls 1, Dark Souls 3, Demon's Souls, Bloodborne, Sekiro, Elden Ring, etc.... They are just so good. Even some of the Souls-likes not made by From Software are great, like Nioh 1 and 2, Lies of P, Mortal Shell, etc.
Also a big fan of 2d "metroidvania" games, like...
lmao. I like my A91-MT Supra a lot, but some of the comments in this thread are a bit delusional.
The rear track width is only 0.2" (5mm) less than the Supra. 62.6" (Supra) vs 62.4" (C8 Stingray). The front track width of the C8 is 2.1" wider than the front of the Supra. 62.8" (Supra) vs 64.9"...
Doesn't mean much. Have you ever driven an S2000? People consistently rate it as having one of the best feeling shift actions of any production car.
People have also said that about S2000s for 2 decades now...
Just depends on how you define "good", IMO. I have an S2000 (currently being built into a time attack car and soon won't have the original manual transmission in it anymore, but I drove it with it for like 8 years). The S2000 shifter certainly has a shorter throw and feels tighter/more crisp...
lolwut. Magna Steyr does not make either transmission. Magna Steyr assembled the car. The transmissions are both made by ZF Friedrichshafen AG, aka ZF Group, an engineering company/parts supplier headquartered in Baden-WĂĽrttemberg, Germany. This is the same company that made BMW's previous DCTs...
I don't really understand this mindset the Mark IV purists have. The MKIV Supra wasn't even a Toyota-only affair like people like to think. The head on the 2JZ was built by Yamaha, and the transmission was built by Getrag, a German supplier, just like ZF is a German supplier for the transmission...
I think I'd prefer the DCT over the 8HP. It's a little more aggressive and a little faster shifting. I think they discontinued it, not because it is worse than the 8HP, but because the 8HP is "good enough" and allows for the xDrive AWD system, whereas the DCT would have had to have been...
FWIW, I bought an A91-MT. So, I obviously also like manual transmissions too. :P And I actually think the one in the Supra is really good and enjoyable to use.
I'm just not as aggressively anti-DCT/auto... mostly, because I know the results speak for themselves. If it's for a track car, and the...
That's a good thing for those of us who have an A91-MT in that color. :p
BTW, I think that color is actually the same color as BMW's Sparkling Copper Metallic, which, I believe, is an exclusive color for the BMW X7 SUV.
I don't know why Toyota likes that bright orange color so much. They have something just like it on the Tundra TRD Pro and on the GR86 special edition. I don't really like it on any of them.
Looks like no major updates for 2024 other than a nice color option for people who like the matte white...
IMSA use paddle shifters, yes, but they aren't using torque converter automatics or even DCTs. They are paddle shift actuated dogbox sequential transmissions. 100% race transmissions. They only use a clutch to take off initially. No clutch used during shifting.
I think your point is still valid...
I guess, but a good DCT can be violent and exciting in its own way, and you can't really argue with the shift times. Being able to keep your hands on the steering wheel and carefully down shift or up shift mid-corner can be a big advantage.
My take:
I waited and bought the A91-MT. Coming from an S2000, the shift action isn't as short or "bolt action like" (as some people say) as the S2000 shifter, but it's still a really good manual, IMO. It's smoother and still has a pretty short throw, and it doesn't feel overly rubbery and...
