This isn't the actual 24 hour nurburg race so VLN 3 is still mostly a test for a lot of the teams. Plus this whole project is probably for durability and mechanic training anyway. The result isn't the number one priority I'd say. Plus There's a lot of GT3 cars which are supposed to be faster...
Orido and Iida drove Supras in GT500 before so they were very curious about it. iida seemed to be more technically intristed in it. Was impressed by the double latched hood, which is rare in japanese cars. If you watch the video you can see they're smiling and happy. They really like how the car...

Honda were also exploring canard designs since 2019 GT500 regulations opened up development of that area. Notice the almost F1-like canard designs.
