I know the Cayman was the end all goal, but, the specs alongside the weight are on par with the 911 at nearly half the price. Both 991.1 and 991.2 are reaching 7::37 times on the ring and if the Supra can reach even a 7:43 time stock is a head turner.
I think a comforting thought with this car is not Toyota making a 50k GT86, but Toyota making a 50k 911. The weight and specs are within spitting distance with one another, and I think that was the goal. Not a bad one at all.
Pros
-Toyota's second sports car in the lineup
-0-60 in 4 seconds despite the weight
-Upscale interior by Toyota's Standards
-Real-world applicable power
-Likely insane chassis and handling capabilities
-A secretly hidden platform for mods
-Stunning Exterior
-Relatively affordable to its...
But the torque is rated at 369, while the Supra has the same amount. I know the torque plays a strong role, but I would imagine if the Supra can get such a low time at 4.1 while restricting the flow of power coming in, what would be the time without the restriction?
But even with the filter, they are running a 4.1 0-60 time? This is confusing me unless BMW wanted to make an agreement to try and sway US Market Supra buyers away to their own brand
Listen bucko, either you get a Supra, or you don't, because no matter what they did, they would get flak for it not being under 30k, not having 1000HP from factory and not used.
People would find a reason to complain so they can keep their 90's nostalgia pristine and not accept the stark...
This must be the hardest Toyota PR is working by underpromise, over deliver.
If they get people to buy the car at first with the name alone, before specs and data comes out showing this car is a legitimate beast, it would cause reservations into 2021 and keep the car selling and slowly change...
I'll go and say it cuts off about 3 seconds because despite it being able to reach higher speeds, the braking entry would be coming a lot sooner. That's just my guess
Yep, but I would imagine in 6 years, that engine will be considered one of the best not just cause of what can it do, but there will be so much quality checks and life improvements to ensure it is running at its best. Combine this with BMW seeing what Toyota does and learn from them, they too...
I think change his tune is an understatement
EDIT: On another note, I recall saying something about a 425 HP edition car with it roughly at 3000 lbs. I would love to speak it into existence.
It was worth asking as my eyes opened at the figures, both in ludicrous fashion. Then again, I went to a toyota dealer while setting up my car's service this past friday and the salesman tried to tell me the Supra was going to be 80-100k before dealer markups.
Just found it a little funny, and...
I just read somewhere that a guy from a Lexus dealership told someone how excited they were for the upcoming LCF and it would be 170k with 660HP.
Got any comments or emotes for that?
I am still kicking myself that I had an idea that the supra was coming but muttered something like, eh, it's out of my price bracket.
Now I kind of wished I didn't bite the bullet
Apparently Japan trims leaked. Saw the lowest trim available.
Trim: SZ
Inline 4 Twin Scroll Turbo, 197PS at 4500-6500RPM, 320NM at 1450-4200RPM
0-100 in 6.5s
Weight of 1410kg.
Standard Tires are 225/50R17 front, 255/45R17 rear.
Dear god, 3100 lbs. Akio wasn't kidding about swapping
T Here's only one thing left on my mind and is that curb weight being a premium trim or is this the base model? I also wonder if there's any performance changes by going from base to Premium.
