That's the hole for the throttle body tube. Your box has no tube opening going to the grill.

After seeing this I tore my factory box apart to see the design. The BMW box is totally sealed from engine heat. The filter is excellent, many large deep folds. Has a large tube going to the front of the grill for cold air. The MST unit can only suck air from the engine compartment.

I see room for a oil catch can.

Most of it yes. I called Mishimoto today and still no production. I can't figure out where it would be mounted. I will wait and get it as this car throttle body gets lots of oil.

I know what you mean about the salt. I took all the badging off my car. If it was built in a BMW factory with BMW parts in Austria what do you call it. I bought it because its a BMW hardtop roadster.

I don't think you have to worry about rust up there. The whole body is composite plastic.

I used 91% isopropyl rubbing alcohol for my decals and all it did was get all the dirt off. Paint was still good looking.

I've been taking them off my sport cars when they started putting them on to look pretty. They do hold heat in. No they do not absorb heat.
