If they compete with the GT-R then the price will be out of reach of the majority of true car enthusiasts - I couldn't care less is this new Supra is slower then the GT-R as long as its affordable. If you want something as fast as the GT-R just go and buy a GT-R.
My understanding is that Magna Steyr simply does the final assembly, more or less - they wouldn't be doing any major sub-assemblies manufacture at all, things like rear suspension cradle, front suspension assemblies and the steering components, drivetrain, interior/dashboard, will all be made by...
What I would like:
Manual, twin turbo 6cyl, RWD, 2+2.
What it will end up being:
DCT auto, V6 HYBRID, AWD, 2 seater.
Disclaimer:
Ex R35 GT-R owner, don't want DCT ever again, clunky/boring rubbish. I'd rather have a 1sec, to 100km/h, slower car yet change my own gears.
Neither have I but let's actually think about this - a twin turbo V6 with a HYBRID - that would easily eclipse 400bhp, yet that 400bhp gets banded around a lot by Toyota. I would not be surprised if it ends up being N/A high revving engine.
All these protos are giving us nothing on how the future finished product will look like. I wouldn't lose any sleep. If Lexus RC, LFA and the lil 86 are anything to base our hopes on I'm sure Supra will be a hot looking beast.
Also, I hope people understand that only like 10% of the FT-1 looks...
That benchmark is spot on. Hopefully they can get that steering feel of the Porsches. I'm mega excited about this Supra MkV - it is going to be a long wait...
