  1. Reviews are in for 2020 Supra MKV preproduction car

Then go buy a miata. If I'm spending high 50s, performance will be on par with cars in the high 50s. This car is barely half a step above a 370z, all the reviews have confirmed this. Everything else in the 50k bracket smokes the shit out of this car on the track (where this car was supposedly...
  2. Reviews are in for 2020 Supra MKV preproduction car

If your entire point revolves around "but you can just pay more money to mod a car after you buy it, just to get it to a level it should have been from the factory," it's a pretty shit point. Yeah, a pos civic can be "tunned and modded to unlock it's potential." Why the fuck should I spend a...
  3. If not the New Supra, then what?

If not the Supra then what? Well, now that Toyota has confirmed to have fucked up yet another sports car reboot, for me its down to the latest Lotus Exige, the Mclaren MP4-12C (can be had for a song), and the C8 vette. Just need to wait a little bit longer for some solid info on what looks to...
  4. New (Unconfirmed) Details and Specifications of US-Spec MKV Supra:

I dont get why so many people keep saying "i trust tada." Did you forget his team gave us the 86 abortion? Looks like hes 0/2 now. Please keep Tada the fuck away from any sports car.
  5. New (Unconfirmed) Details and Specifications of US-Spec MKV Supra:

Please... The Supra specs are straight garbage ass tier compared to that. XLRV shits all over this toyota abortion.
  6. New (Unconfirmed) Details and Specifications of US-Spec MKV Supra:

These specs are laughable. I knew with even entertaining the talk of ANY hp number in the 300s and a pricetag in the 60-80 range, this was going to be DOA. Frankly it blows my mind how many folks think 380hp and a 50k tag is acceptable for a car called "Supra." The GT cars the Supra competed...
  7. Toyota may build Supra convertible / targa instead of 86 convertible

Well... Seeing as one of my weekend "muh handling" cars does weigh ~2900lbs and has over 600hp, I've got that covered already. Thanks for your two cents though.
  8. Toyota may build Supra convertible / targa instead of 86 convertible

USA A70s various quotes that he put a smiley on indicated that the 80k performance version was still only around 380hp. I wouldnt even look at a low 300hp "Supra" for 50k. My personal cost value evaluation could have maybe sorta justified 50k for a 380hp, 6spd, targa top mkv Supra... Mostly...
  9. Toyota may build Supra convertible / targa instead of 86 convertible

Very disappointing to hear this. Ive got cash on hand to buy a Supra outright at launch for another weekend car. But this was the last straw. No manual. 80k for under 400hp. No targa. Im out. Another MRS/86 abortion here we come. :(
  10. Toyota may build Supra convertible / targa instead of 86 convertible

No irony. Hard toppers may as well be celica owners. Which is why I would routinely ask them if they planned on actually buying a Supra. But then again, I am an ass. ;) There was a reason radically fewer hardtops sold.
  11. Toyota may build Supra convertible / targa instead of 86 convertible

I have seen you comment on the engine/tranny acouple times, but searching I couldnt find if you had directly commented on this or not. Is there gonna be a targa option? The frameless doors on the test mules and the way the roof meets the windshield give me hope. But there always seems to be...
  12. Toyota may build Supra convertible / targa instead of 86 convertible

A Supra without a targa isnt even a Supra. All the "mah handling" crap is a red herring. If you were that concerned with handling, you wouldn't even be looking at a GT car in the first damn place. Its always funny going to the big Vegas and Texas Supra meets. Talking with someone with a hardtop...
  13. New rumors from C&D: 2020 Supra to get BMW inline six engine / B58 & S58 chat

Unlike quite afew folks here, I have no inherent problems with Toyota using the BMW shortblock. The S5X blocks are incredibly stout. Folks need to go brows the various BMW forums. Its very much like Supraforums was in the late 2000s. Tons of folks pushing lots of reliable horsepower. Hell, its...
  14. Interviews with Chief Engineer Tetsuya Tada

Thanks for the longer translation post. Lots of "PM" talk in Tada's answers. There better be a manual option... DCTs fucking suck. I have more fun in my 6 speed truck than I do driving the McClaren 650S with it's DCT. Even my damn "hypercar" sucks with a DCT.
  15. Spied: Toyota benchmarking Porsche 911 GT3 RS (997) for new Supra?

380hp and 70-80k sticker is acceptable in a 2000 pound MR Lotus. 380hp and a 70-80k sticker in an over 3000 lb FR Toyota is laughable.
  16. Spied: Toyota benchmarking Porsche 911 GT3 RS (997) for new Supra?

What happened to the abortion known as the MR-S, which was all about "mah handling?" Canceled. What is currently happening to 86 and it's "mah handling?" Sales nose diving. Current year sales are close to 1/3 of intro sales. If it keeps going, it will be another Toyota failure.
  17. Spied: Toyota benchmarking Porsche 911 GT3 RS (997) for new Supra?

This is the problem with you people that didnt/dont own a Supra... At the time, the Supra WAS comparable to all the other GT cars (key word there) on the market. Yet now, we are somehow supposed to swallow that its okay the Supra is short damn near 100 hp to the same cars it competed with in the...
  18. Spied: Toyota benchmarking Porsche 911 GT3 RS (997) for new Supra?

By the time the new Supra comes out, the C8 vette will be dropping. Which will be a mid engineed supercar, for not much more of a price bump. Mustang GT: 460hp, 35k base Camaro 1SS: 455hp, 43k base Mustang LFP: 700hp, 41k base Tons of various Mopar crap that's 5-600 hp for under 50k. Mustang...
  19. Spied: Toyota benchmarking Porsche 911 GT3 RS (997) for new Supra?

This is incredibly disappointing to hear. The Supra is going to be completely non-competitive in the market at these price/performance levels.
