  1. GR Supra. Did it live up to the hype?

The paranoid IT guy in me thinks the heavy influx of simplistic "the answer is there if you search and read" questions is because they are bot users. I'm sure it is probably the "2nd generation of owners now that the car is a little more affordable" phenomenon. This is happening on 2 other...
  2. RE-71RS vs Cup2 Connect

I have Verus Camber plates in front, but still on stock springs and dampers. I run a 15mm spacer at all corners Alignment in front is -3deg camber, 0 toe, 8deg caster. I've NEVER had rubbing with this setup, and there is room in all directions with a 275/35/18.
  3. RE-71RS vs Cup2 Connect

I don't know if they are still available, but someone on here designed a different bearing (I think) for the Verus plates that would allow them to work with coilovers. I believe they were specifically used for the Ohlins R&T, but that's going from memory. That would require some forum...
  4. RE-71RS vs Cup2 Connect

Understood. I've been around track days for a long time and I know what I like, which will vary vs the next guy. For a bunch of reasons that are in other threads, I've kept my car quite stockish to date. I did sway bars F & R, Verus camber plates, an alignment to my specs, and the...
  5. RE-71RS vs Cup2 Connect

No, never ran them in the stock config/sizes. I bought a 2nd set of wheels before my first track day with the car. I'm not a big fan of staggered wheels/tires on a car like this that is pretty well weight-balanced from the factory. That's a personal preference thing, but I like more front...
  6. RE-71RS vs Cup2 Connect

Short answer, Yes the RE71RS is still one of the best 200TW tires for track use. If you read the threads on here about what they do/don't do well, you will be well prepared. They are adequate in the rain at near full tread. They are horrific in the rain as they wear. As Razorlab jokingly...
  7. Looking for a Hood and a Hatch...no, I didn't wreck the car

Ugh, I had forgotten about the hatch swap challenges. I already own the Verus UCW, and my somewhat thrifty nature doesn't want to go to my friend who works at Zebulon and pay to fab up something super custom. Crap. I did find a black hood for $300 locally...but the timing is poor. I'm a...
  8. Looking for a Hood and a Hatch...no, I didn't wreck the car

Tim...if I buy something in SC, can you hold it for me?. (No, I wouldn't ask you to do that). I can't wait to see my wife's reaction when I bring more body panels into the basement. I had foxbody fenders and a hood sitting next to my sim rig for almost a year :-D
  9. **Official Lap Times Thread**

I hang out several different places with WILDLY varying opinions of the P1. It does seem like the autox guys have better luck with them, but it's hard to sift through the marketing rah rah of a couple of fanbois/distributors. I"m not a fan of how they came on the US amateur motorsports scene...
  10. Looking for a Hood and a Hatch...no, I didn't wreck the car

TL/DR - If you were looking for another hood and hatch for the Supra, where would you look? I've looked at eBay and CarPart.com so far, but finding Supra body parts that don't require obscenely expensive shipping is challenging. For those with longer attention spans, I haven't been here for...
  11. Race Tracking Your Supra - Information exchange

Yep, Rizen is right. I've done endurance stuff here with Lemons in several different cars, time trials, and a couple of HPDEs. It's pretty brutal on brakes, regardless of the platform. I'll assume you guys enjoyed the kink. It's a great equalizer, and a fantastic way to set up a pass for...
  12. Race Tracking Your Supra - Information exchange

Most likely NOT alignment. Just about guaranteed you were going faster on the Kumhos vs the OE Michelins, therefore you're braking harder and unloading the rear more than you're used to. A 200tw like the Kumho will be MUCH more likely to follow imperfections in the track...in addition to you...
  13. Race Tracking Your Supra - Information exchange

I'm apples to apples with you. OEM 19s for the street, 18x10.5 with 275s on the track. What Bryan said is correct - suspension geometry doesn't change between those 2 sets of rims/change in ride height. I had a friend beat this into my head a long time ago. Your scenario brings up a bunch...
  14. F22 M240i as track car?

Agreed. He ran 17x9 (might have been 18s) and 255s with some lowering springs. You'd have to do some notable fender massaging to get a lot more tire underneath the car. At that point you start to consider "Just go with the M2" instead. That being said, the car acquitted itself well, but...
  15. F22 M240i as track car?

A good friend of mine ran an M240i X-drive in One Lap of America this year - the car was quick with minimal setup. It's a solid platform.
  16. Race Tracking Your Supra - Information exchange

If you record sessions with something like TrackAddict or Harrys, pair the phone with an OBD reader via BT, you'll see a bunch of counters show up in the software that you can add to your session data file. I know for sure IAT is in that list, and I'm assuming some of the other temp counters...
  17. Race Tracking Your Supra - Information exchange

I was wondering when you'd show up in this thread, Tim.
  18. Race Tracking Your Supra - Information exchange

I know it's been said on here before...but if you're not buying consumables from FCP Euro, look into it. I don't know how they do it, but their warranty return policy is fantastic. My last set of front rotors...I "returned" and got another set for what amounts to shipping.
  19. Race Tracking Your Supra - Information exchange

Watch the sphericals on the SPL LCAs very closely, as well as the arm itself. We've had some interesting failures with SPL parts.
  20. Race Tracking Your Supra - Information exchange

Yeah, piling on, but I'm not a fan of aerocatch hood pins. having them on 1 car was enough to swear them off for life. They deteriorate and you can never get them closed with out a lot of fiddling around. Mine didn't fail, but I would not recommend them. If you're truly in a place to get rid...
