  1. Race Tracking Your Supra - Information exchange

This talk about fuel starve/limp mode...thank you for the reminder. I'll start the day with as close to full tank as I can, so that should get me through 8 laps without having to think about it too hard. I know Danny Kao had a limp-mode issue in his Supra at CMP last year, but I think that...
  2. Race Tracking Your Supra - Information exchange

Another "I've been looking for this thread" guy here. 20+ yr track guy, instructed for a short time (long story for another day), and new to the Supra. For Razorlab's "Driving like an Ape" - yeah, I had some of those when I was instructing. The traction control discussion is interesting. My...
  3. Inexpensive TSW Kemora wheels (18x10.5 et 35) - anyone run them?

Gotcha...so these 10.5s are an actual thing. I checked the A-spec store, and they don't have them, and the one seller that has them only has the one set of Hyper Silver GTC02s. Hmmmm, decisions.
  4. Inexpensive TSW Kemora wheels (18x10.5 et 35) - anyone run them?

The Imatra is the other wheel I was looking at for that same reason. Thank you for the feedback! I actually have a set of stock-width GTC02s, and I was going to pick up 2 addtl 18x10 rears to run a square set, but TireRack (and everyone else) that sells the 18x10 et35 has been out for a while...
  5. Inexpensive TSW Kemora wheels (18x10.5 et 35) - anyone run them?

Since they're TSW, I'm not overly worried about quality - they aren't no-name wheels from somewhere unknown in Asia. My though is that they've phased a couple of wheels out of production and offered them to resellers at dirt cheap prices to move them. There are several vendors that have them...
  6. Inexpensive TSW Kemora wheels (18x10.5 et 35) - anyone run them?

In my attempts to get the car ready for a few shakedown events before OneLap, I find myself without the right wheels for the moment. I have stuff on backorder at TireRack, so I've been scouring the web for a good deal in the meantime. Several vendors have the TSW Kemora for REALLY cheap - like...
  7. OneLapofAmerica 2023 - "Close to stock" suspension setup

I went back and forth on the CSGs vs the Project Mu. I pinged a very "racer specific" forum that I frequent, and there was not a lot of feedback on the Project Mu, so I ended up with the CSGs after a chat with Jackie Ding/PhD. They are horribly expensive, as everyone knows. If this was just...
  8. OneLapofAmerica 2023 - "Close to stock" suspension setup

This, so much this. This is what I came here to say. Also factor in that if you're using spacers or a wheel with a significantly deeper "mounting face" than the OEM wheels, you will need longer bolts/studs to make sure that you have enough purchase/threads in the hub. If you're buying longer...
  9. OneLapofAmerica 2023 - "Close to stock" suspension setup

Not a clue yet. My estimate is that on high HP tracks with long straights - the Supra will run away from the Cayman. Tighter stuff, the Cayman certainly "feels" better, but I don't know if that will equate directly to faster times. The only apples-to-apples test will be Nashville, as we ran...
  10. Brake shudder?

Unless you have some VERY sensitive hands (or REALLY bad pad deposits), you won't be able to tell runout on the rotors by hand. If you're lucky, you can spin the wheel while it's up on the jack and you'll see it drag slightly in the high spot on the rotor...but the deposits have to be pretty...
  11. OneLapofAmerica 2023 - "Close to stock" suspension setup

It's really just an FCP Euro thing - they offer lifetime warranty on lots of consumable stuff that NOBODY else would do. Brake pads...brake fluid...brake rotors...and lots of other stuff. There are limitations, but no other vendor is currently doing what they do. I guess they figure they come...
  12. What is everyone's Daily Driver/ Other car?

I split DD duties between the Supra and my Audi Q5e hybrid-thingy. For 2-wheel needs, I ride a BMW R1200RT
  13. Brake Rotors

True, Zimmerman is not the OEM. This is slightly apples/oranges, but I used Zimmerman rotors on my previous E36s - 3 of them...I had a problem :). I used them for street with street pads, and I used a different set for track with race pads. They always performed as expected with no undue...
  14. Brake Rotors

EDIT!!!!!!!!! Fixed the FCP Euro Link for the 345mm rear disc for the premium cars. Any quotes of this post before 4/18/23 will have the link to the rear rotors for the base/4cyl cars (330 mm) ******************************************************************************************* I just...
  15. Square Titan 7 TS-5 with tires For Trade

Sending you PM - local and interested.
  16. OneLapofAmerica 2023 - "Close to stock" suspension setup

Thank you. I'll need at least a day on track to shake the car down before the event with all the new pieces and parts...and cheap will help a LOT. My credit card is currently warm to the touch...
  17. "Security Alert" popup

I got a popup add for McAfee Total Protection today - VERY intrusive, VERY scare-tactic stuff. I'm an IT guy and I have plenty of background in IT Security, so I know better than to click on it. I understand we need to sell ads to keep the site free, but this is over the line. Screen cap of...
  18. OneLapofAmerica 2023 - "Close to stock" suspension setup

I knew Danny by name, but had never met him before OLOA. We actually didn't talk until afterwards...and we live 5 min apart.
  19. OneLapofAmerica 2023 - "Close to stock" suspension setup

Thanks to all for the input. I just put in an order with Jackie @ PhD last week for a setup that should be a pretty good compromise of trackable and comfortable. - Verus Camber plates - CSG Brake pads (C21 F, C11 Rear) - 78mm lug studs from Motorsport Hardware - 15mm hub-centric spacers from...
  20. OneLapofAmerica 2023 - "Close to stock" suspension setup

Thanks for the feedback and the thoughts. I'm interested in pulling the thread on "stiffening up the loose front end" Having looked at the SPL stuff before, I think those are going in a direction I don't want to go with NVH. That's getting rid of bushings and replacing with spherical...
