  1. 2025 One Lap of America (TomFree is running again...)

Day 1 of competition is in the books. Decent showing in the wet skidpad, 20th overall. Autox was a bust. I ran a safe first run, my co-driver ran 2nd and ran a nearly identical time, and I got greedy on the last run and plowed off course. It would have been a lot faster, but...no worries.
  2. 2025 One Lap of America (TomFree is running again...)

Met another Supra forums member today...gorgeous car. I'm dead tired and we haven't even started yet. We had too many beers last night. Today was sticker day, so the car is all ready to go. I didn't really shoot any video or stills today, but we do have one shot of the car with myself and...
  3. 2025 One Lap of America (TomFree is running again...)

That's a nice Sim rig, I'm a little jealous. I'll be driving Grattan and Hedge Hollow on mine tonight. Yeah, DJ was driving Peter's car and got an Oil pressure light, shut it down immediately and pulled over. When we got it back in to the paddock, the starter would not budge the motor. If...
  4. 2025 One Lap of America (TomFree is running again...)

Tool sharing is a way of life at OLOA. There are a couple of folks who are better prepped than the rest of us, and we sponge off of them. The Toyota PE guys are ultra prepared, and extremely nice. They're generally my first go-to. As for a packing list, I have something better...my whole...
  5. 2025 One Lap of America (TomFree is running again...)

I alluded to this the other night in some rando thread where it was mentioned, but it's that time again. The car is pretty much the same. Pagid RSL 29 brake pads in the front (vs CSG last 2 years), and AFE Control front sway bar end links to replace the stockers. Fresh set of RE71RS, flushed...
  6. Installing only front sway bar (no rear) for spirited street driving

Bryan is correct. My car is so close to stock, I take next to zero tools. I carry a spare 18x10.5/275 in the hatch, and you just pack everything else around it. It's a fine dance of enough smaller bags to fit in nooks and crannies. You also use the space behind the seats for soft things. I...
  7. Installing only front sway bar (no rear) for spirited street driving

No worries...I've been around for a couple of years and I do post a thread for my One Lap of America adventures in the track driving forum. I'm not the fastest guy, but I know a little. I've been driving track events for 20+ years, raced in 24 hrs of Lemons for 15+ yrs, I used to instruct...
  8. Seat belt harness with stock seats

jMike to his waxing tech..."Yeah, chest only again, heading to the track tomorrow.
  9. Seat belt harness with stock seats

This is the equivalent of the reddit thread about the squid who just bought a new S1000RR, takes the obligatory dealership pic wearing a helmet, short sleeves, nylon hiking pants, and running shoes, and lets the redditsphere go nuts about improper safety equipment.
  10. Seat belt harness with stock seats

Heaven help me for adding to this thread...but I haven't seen this mentioned. Slide the seat back a couple of inches, lock the shoulder belt as closely to your body as possible, and slide the seat forward until you're FIRMLY against the belts, keeping the lock. I've done this on track, I've...
  11. Race Tracking Your Supra - Information exchange

Short answer, yes. Do it. There is no such thing as bad seat time. Long answer - it's a lot different, but there are lots of lessons to be learned in auto-x. Autox is good for car control - getting the car sliding around at lower speeds and learning to use it and correct it. Inputs are...
  12. Race Tracking Your Supra - Information exchange

I figure your autocorrect jumped in there...but in case it didn't, it's Verus, not Versus. IIRC, there IS a Versus that makes Supra parts as well.
  13. Race Tracking Your Supra - Information exchange

I will 2nd Bryan's "Quality camber plates do not add a bunch of NVH" statement. I have the Verus camber plates that are designed to work with stock springs, and they're plenty well-mannered on the street. I have well over 15k miles on mine.
  14. Tire Recommendation

Not surprising. The RS4 is SOOOOOO old, and the available sizes reflect it. I run a 245/40/17 or a 255/40/17 on my old Mustang, so it's a good choice there. I also ran it on a previous team with a DA Integra, running 15"s.
  15. Tire Recommendation

I was going to recommend the AD09 as well, but the last time I checked they're really expensive for a "not 200tw" tire. I know some are running them in LeMons, and also in OneLap with success, but the price is hard to swallow. I'd have switched over the Conti ECF for my LeMons car last year...
  16. Tire Recommendation

It's ALL about expectations. I've tracked the car on Conti ECS02 and Bridgestone RE71RS, putting notable street miles on each tire. The Stones are pretty rough on the street, and will burn to the ground QUICKLY. They are OK full tread in the rain, but treacherous when worn. They're loud...
  17. Race Tracking Your Supra - Information exchange

For my 3-lap time trial use case, the RE71RS is outstanding. They're decent while still stone cold on the recon lap and easy to get up to temp during competition lap 1. They talk, they have good feel, and they have tons of mechanical grip. Combo street/track miles...be VERY careful on the...
  18. Race Tracking Your Supra - Information exchange

I've tracked (and raced) on different flavors of 200TW tires for most of my career. I remember running the original Falken RT215 on my NA Miata, and how they went off at the end of a session. The first "endurance" 200TW I remember was the Hankook RS2, and they won a LeMons race for us back in...
  19. Race Tracking Your Supra - Information exchange

I've tracked the PS4S (different car) and the ESC02 (Supra). 33psi hot seems REALLY low, and would require cold pressures so low that you risk sidewall deflection on a street tire. I have no malfunction with a cold 27-28psi, but if you are running 30 min HPDE sessions, 37-38psi seems more of...
  20. Race Tracking Your Supra - Information exchange

Another thought...I was in an intermediate group years ago and told my instructor I was bringing the car in early because the tires were greasy and the car was moving around a lot. We chatted after the session and his input was: "When this happens again...stay out and make yourself adjust to...
