...had the plastic adjusting ring, but it is not broken. From what I seem to gather this is more of a cold-weather problem? This is the first oilpump sold (through the Toyota network) in my entire region here in Texas.
Here is the part # for the new pump, which did have the steel adjusting...
If you want no risk, then that'd probably be a safe choice. I like to roll the dice on stuff and just kept driving the car and taking it easy though and nothing happened for me other than the code on pulls and occasional high oil pressure in light throttle. razorlab has a chart that can provide...
If you account for ambient pressure, those pressures that @MacAllan30 posted are within spec except for WOT which is about 10psi higher but nothing to really worry about.
He is in DFW so approx 600ft = 14.4 psi
35 at idle - 14.4 = 20.6
50-70 part throttle - 14.4 = 35.6-55.6
90 at WOT - 14.4 = 75.6
I'm very hesitant to drive the car until the pump is replaced. Someone also recommended to replace the oil sensor as well in the pan. This B58 oilpump video came out a few days ago and explained that the springs are different on the updated oilpump in addition to the plastic being replaced.
If the car is has a tune on it, the tuner could have changed the target oil pressure as I've been told.
Although, if you have no tune or the tune still targets stock oil pressure, those values are higher than normal. When my pump had issues and I couldn't measure oil level, on hard pulls I was...
In BimmerLink oil psi was 32-35 at idle, 50-70 part throttle, and 90+ on a hard pull. I’ve gotten the message that engine oil is unknown each time I start the car. Testing for oil level fails each and every time. Picked up a new oilpump from FCP Euro for $550.
A dealer principle selling an oil burner, perish the thought. If it was an oil burner he'd keep it forever until he died before he'd flog it off to some poor suspecting sap. They are after all men of immaculate principles and of the highest integrity you can trust with your life are dealer...
I was a little nervous but. ….as you run the risk of a poor run in though. I figured as mine was previously owned by the dealer principle, he wasn’t going to on sell an oil burner. Made good power on dyno. Makes better power now! I’ve now spent the same money as brand new and I have close to...
Ironically, the day you posted this comment was the day I was finally able to bleed my clutch after removing the CDV. I also had issues trying to use a Motive power bleeder. Initially, mine was leaking out of the box from multiple places. I tightened all the joints and all seemed well. I was...

Oilpump is installed and oil level procedure correctly goes through. Install was only a day 1/2 so not bad. Whining noise at low speed is also gone. Thanks to all who responded to forum
Your absolutely right that Toyota thoroughly tests their oil they specify, but why does Toyota only spec 0w-20 for the GR86 in the US but in Australia they also spec 5w-20 and 5-w30 for the same car with the same engine? Does oil work differently in Australia then the in the US? Toyota even says...
...Toyota master technician and owner of an independent shop created a video in which he explains reasons for thinner synthetic oils. One is an oilpump system that monitors oil pressure and flow. A thicker oil would eventually prevent it from working properly. Lake Speed recommends that having...
It's for the brakes themselves. Clutch shares the same fluid.
Get a turkey baster syringe thingy and keep it with the bleeder in the box so you can suck some fluid out if it gets too full after the job if needed. I keep everything in the box to help keep it clean.
Just an update:
I was finally able to get the job done!
I am not a fan of the Motive pressure pumps although others seem of recommend them. I am not sure if this is a known fact but I had to purchase a separate plumber seal tape to seal the metal valve in the middle of the tube. (Only realized...
Oh no, I know about the secret menu! It's just quicker and almost as accurate to do the "range divided by average MPG" than to go into the secret menu every time I stop at the pump.
