I also not seen it yet but I am going to the NY show in April. I really wonder how many cycles it can be shown for, it's second year shown in Detroit and New York right ?
FT1 II please!!
Thanks. Looks like all these sports cars suffer from the same drop off in sales. But as long as the company expects this, hopefully they'll price it accordingly and support it throughout the model life to keep sales from declining too much.
@gymratter do you have Miata sales numbers throughout its life so we can see if it suffered from this "extreme decay cycle"? That seems to be a very niche sports car which managed to avoid being killed off after all these years despite low sales numbers.
I definitely see the 86 as more experimental and in that sense it was a success. It carved out a special niche in a crowded market that hasn't existed for quite some time.
The Supra will be different - it will be positioned in a well established segment filled lots of direct competitors that...

This is still one of my favorite interviews. Who needs consumer surveys when you have him at the helm.
Look at how the FT1 design hangs with the most exotic models of Ferraris even. Lets say for argument sake that this design passes all safety regulations. Would it somehow be cost prohibitive to produce just because of how complex and and detailed the styling is??
Actually I think the opposite. The more gears it has the more chance you'll have to use the paddles which = more engagement = more fun. Maybe would somewhat makes up for losing the clutch pedal to engage with.
I feel like the price of cars has outpaced inflation. Well one thing is for sure, the price of big powerful sports cars will continue to skyrocket in place of small displacement and electric/hybrids.
The way it should be. The companies aren't even somewhat affiliated like how Toyota has a stake in Fuji Heavy Industries (parent of Subaru). Plus one is Japanese and the other is German, which typically have very different designs.
