I don't have the exact answer to that. I have a few theories, but unsubstantiated. I can see a few advantages of lug bolts, but they're readily outweighed by studs.

How did you misalign the rotor like that? In my past experience with German cars, the first thing I did was stud conversion.

Good thing it worked for your car. The PDS process has been run multiple times on my LE with the same or worse results.

Transport mode can be detected during PDS.

What kind of rustproofing method? IMO, rustproofing is not needed for cars nowadays. I rinse the underside of the cars driven on salty roads somewhat frequently; most of the times, rinsing was done at home when the car was still wet from driving.

The electronic problems on mine never reset or fixed themselves from the beginning during PDS. Toyota FTS is unable to pinpoint the root cause after over 2 months. The car is being processed as a lemon. I hope yours is just a glitch.
