It's not bad. I did mine on race ramps and drank a beer while doing it. Took me 2 hours but I was enjoying my time and relaxing. Fast people can get it done in 30 minutes or less.
Just remember routing of the o2 sensor harness routing and don't drop the v-band clamp nut.
That's normal for normal mode shifting into 7th around there. Now if you were flooring it for a second or two and it wouldn't downshift that wouldn't be normal.
I would replace the bolt. If you don't get that tight it will rattle and eventually break the oring and your bolt or break your flange from microvibrations.
The only thing that worries me is these engines have a special coating on the Cylinder wall. I wonder if the hone is still rough enough to seat new piston rings correctly.
I wouldn't start that engine with 0 oil in the sump. You could rotate the Crank with a ratchet off the Crank pulley to see if it even turns.
In my opinion I wouldn't even think of restoring that car unless you have tons of cash and are just wanting to restore a newer supra for the fun of it...
Milwaukee makes a rechargeable 12volt portable vacuum. It doesn't have a blow function though. I use mine all the time cleaning out intake boxes on 795f cat trucks and 994k loader intake boxes.
My car is smooth in all gears in normal mode. Take it how you will because I work on large mining trucks and when they shift it feels like the earth is shaking.
If everything is hooked up right then it's gotta be something with the unlock. I'm not sure what is all done with the unlock, but if you hooked everything up correctly then it's gotta be something with the dme.
Something seems odd with the dealer. If your car is not modified performance wise and you are under 3 years 36k miles everything should be covered other than wear items.
