I agree its a great system that is simple and improves sound marginally. Same money can be spent elsewhere for better results but will require more a high knowledge of tuning.
It may have to do more with things that require uploading to the ECU for Ex. the recall etc. When my Tuner did the TCU adaptation reset he saw multiple faults from the amp being removed but none that caused any issues or prevented him from doing the work.

I don't see how hard it is to do. Remove the needed trim, unplug the MOST input from my mObridge K2 amp, plug it into the factory amp, plug in the remaining connectors the shop kindly left intact and done.
