probably because it is clunky and just like all the "why not MT" discussions we've had, people who can fork out more money especially for something luxury probably don't want a jerky experience. orido never mentions whether he liked the gearbox in the video, he just comments that the ratios are...
pretty obvious, the US really has no restrictions..Japan taxes auto owners based on displacement & many EU countries used to do the same but they now go off of emissions which is indirectly the same thing.
gotta keep in mind to separate the US market from the world as toyota still offers many models with MTs variants in Europe & Asia, which are auto only here in the states...the CHR & RAV4 for example are both in this boat..even the FJC was still being produced with a MT up until this year for...
poor comparison considering nearly everything on your list has a V8/V10 or larger while the GTR is just simply enormous compared to what many of us envision the MK5..if it is a smaller 3000-ish lbs car then it probably ain't necessary to add additional complexity.
if you were a longtime lurker then you should know none of this is new :dunno: of course the styling will be reminiscent of the FT1 but for some people, including myself, the proportions of the body has been questionable.
lol? how does that even begin to compare? yes, let us compare a FWD econobox designed for commuting with a RWD sports car designed for driving..do you know where the trans in located on a FWD car?
the only comparable car currently being sold is the C7 (if you ignore front end/hood...
do you even see where the passenger compartment starts and ends on a 911? of course drivetrain placement matters for packaging lmao..not to mention the length of an i6 and flat 6 are totally different..
and exactly, it is rear engine, not rear-mid engine, so even more passenger space..the back...
lol? I'm not the one guessing on the same dimensions. Plenty of users here have come to the conclusion that the Z4 and Supra share the same wheelbase which is nearly identical to the current Z4's. What is there to assume?
do you think there is space behind that cover/carpeting? i just see...
hmmm, now incomparable engine configuration. just look at where the windshield starts and ends on a 911 and where the doors are placed in relation to the body..
...? what is wheelbase of a california? hope you know it is quite a bit longer than either mk4 or 86..so what about something under 100?
dont see any room :dunno: especially if the seats were actually in their normal spot instead of totally bent over lol
poor comparison. totally different airbag & safety regulations. rx7 had zero airbags (also can't imagine side impact/small overlap would be any good) whereas my 86 has bags for the back passengers.. packaging a car is much easier without modern regulations.
have you guys been in a corvette? look behind the seat :what: where is the room? proportions of the seat, door and hatch position are roughly the same in a c7 as this bmw.
you would think if it had an active spoiler, we would have seen it being tested by now.
even though it was already pretty obvious, think this also confirms this being a 2 seater...there is no way backseats are there between the driver and the removable parcel shelf/cover you can see in the pic.
how would it make "more" sense? I want a toyota engine in there as much as anyone else but i cannot deny that using bmw engines makes much more sense for toyota (not to mention it would keep the inline 6 "history" going). plus, there hasn't ever been a platform/chassis with both i6 and v6...
all true..no where did I get the impression that this toyota guy is in any notable position to actually know what the dev team are doing. regardless, the V6 & hybrid rumors have been around for a while but in general they have been less believable than the shared bmw powertrain rumors..
