  1. BMW model codes include Supra (J29) with auto transmission, 4 and 6 cylinder engines

hard to see them going with the DCT especially if the current Z4 is using the ZF 8 speed and especially if they are reusing the same powertrains..this would also contradict BMW's comments and the industry moving away from DCTs. Also hard to see Toyota being ok with a DCT over a TC..
  2. BMW model codes include Supra (J29) with auto transmission, 4 and 6 cylinder engines

too many factors are involved to use sales as evidence but indeed, first gen xb fans were upset because it wasnt a kei car anymore. to me it was surprising that the first gen did as well as it did in the us considering the stigma a lot of people have with boxy & small cars.. regardless, i dont...
  3. BMW model codes include Supra (J29) with auto transmission, 4 and 6 cylinder engines

yes, the crown does ok in japan & china, really the only two markets for it, but their pricing structure is quite different. base crowns are well below $40 K USD. even with the premium and despite sales dropping, lexus has still sold a reasonable amount of the gs in the us alone so i dont...
  4. BMW model codes include Supra (J29) with auto transmission, 4 and 6 cylinder engines

what was wrong with scion? the first gen xb, tc & xa were all very commendable low budget cars & they successfully had by far the lowest average age of buyers until the recession hit. if the economy didn't go as sour as it did, scion would probably still be alive. certainly a possibility but...
  5. BMW model codes include Supra (J29) with auto transmission, 4 and 6 cylinder engines

who's to say it wasn't bmw that approached toyota? if mazda needed help splitting the costs with the best selling roadster of all time then it is quite conceivable bmw really needed this or they probably would have had to limit or cut the next Z4.. i can easily imagine bmw convincing toyota...
  6. BMW model codes include Supra (J29) with auto transmission, 4 and 6 cylinder engines

 it is a bmw afterall, we can't expect them to be lotus
  7. BMW model codes include Supra (J29) with auto transmission, 4 and 6 cylinder engines

eh, slower than a Camry? The current base model Z4 does 0-60 in 5.6 secs and I'm expecting the Toyota variant to be lighter perhaps around 3200 pounds.. And going by the manufacturer's figures, the top of the line TT I6 on the current Z4 35is has slightly higher HP/torque figures than the...
  8. BMW model codes include Supra (J29) with auto transmission, 4 and 6 cylinder engines

ya it is so dumb to exaggerate what toyota has provided to the project  but go ahead and take everything literally.
  9. BMW model codes include Supra (J29) with auto transmission, 4 and 6 cylinder engines

if this turns out to be true then I think BMW will be 100% fine with allowing the toyota variant to undercut the z4 by quite a bit...this will only be milking the jdm fans, we can now confirm there ain't gonna be any conflict of interest...bimmer fans who want their newest and best powertrains...
  10. BMW model codes include Supra (J29) with auto transmission, 4 and 6 cylinder engines

a bmw with a toyota body kit..at this point should we all protest in hopes that they don't use the supra name? but it ain't them, it is BMW :dunno: despite the rumors in japan, the only confirmed testing (besides the recent sighting in the us) has all been in germany presumably only by bmw's...
  11. BMW model codes include Supra (J29) with auto transmission, 4 and 6 cylinder engines

 meh, if true still gonna ask why they went through the trouble to create such a partnership unless they are trying to create a sports car with the greatest profit margins of all time. ..considering the 86/BRZ project resulted in a rehashed chassis & brand new engine & the Miata/Fiata...
  12. Crickets... give us some news Toyota!

perhaps but everything in the 2017 & 2018 columns is spot on if we go by calendar year...and if the start of production is in Nov 2018 like in the picture @vb22 posted then a full launch in 2019 looks to be inevitable. this would also explain why the publications covering the potential pebble...
  13. If not the New Supra, then what?

to be fair the Z and new Si/Type R are the enthusiast choices below those halo cars so to me it always made sense to place their halo cars at the very top where they could get the green light from the board members to go all out.
  14. Why I'm NOT Hyped About The New Toyota Supra

if this is based on a convertible platform then it seems reasonable to think a targa could be an option. plus, what else are ya going to put on top of the parcel shelf? 1. i agree that the supra should've been a toyota only project, but admittedly go look at profit & margins for toyota versus...
  15. 2019 Toyota Supra Prototype Reveals Production Intent Design/Parts

lmao  guess the world needs more people that'll drool over everything :catfight: pretty desperate that you create a new account just to stir the pot even more...lol...yup I'm the crazy one
  16. Toyota FT-1 concept & A90 Supra design dissected

that is because all modern cars are designed and built taller for obvious reasons...look at the headlight placement in relation to the height of the wheelwell, it has been raised for the mule versus the FT1 and that Jalopnik rendering.. The whole car is shorter & taller.
  17. Lets talk about a side air vent/scoop/intake

The current Lexus models are a poor comparison but it is quite unfair to completely disregard them. 1st gen SC, Altezza/IS, current GS F and comparatively speaking the LC500 all have very respectable numbers in their class...regardless, not sure why the fascination with 2 ton Lexus came from...
  18. Lets talk about a side air vent/scoop/intake

Acknowledging that BMW doesn't make anywhere near some of the lightest chassis on the market helps me sleep at night? lol! I brought up the hybrid? If you read carefully, I'm saying the hybrid ain't happening like so many think. You think the chassis is my main point of contention...
  19. Lets talk about a side air vent/scoop/intake

100 pounds, big deal..my point still stands, it would be very surprising if the bmw supra is lighter than the mk4 and there ain't gonna be a performance hybrid powertrain..
  20. Lets talk about a side air vent/scoop/intake

of course, BMW should feature more advanced & dynamic chassis, that is their brand expectation so the m4's advantages shouldn't have been a surprise..i get the i8 is a little different, the point was its system and advanced materials at that price point can't make it any lighter than a m4 so the...
