Yes it did. It actually took them 6 years. The first GT-R concept showed up in 2001. The production car did not debate until 2007.
Supposedly this thing has been in the works since 2012.
Talk is cheap. How long has Nissan been going back and forth with the "next Z"? Assuming that a new Z is in the works. We haven't even seen test mules let alone a concept car. So that begs the question, when will we see it? 2023? (assuming it takes 5 years to develop)

The biggest complaint I'm reading online about the Z4 is the headlights. The ones on the concept were more sleek and slimmer. I think its funny how Toyota was able to carry over the shape of the FT1's headlights, but BMW couldn't.
