Height and wheels aside the Supra is still the more attractive out of the two. FYI that's the 4 cylinder version. The I6 prototype has been spotted with larger wheels and a lower ride height.
I have no idea, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was true. During the ES unveiling Lexus employees made comments that they got behind the wheel of the new ES a few months prior to the big debut.
I don't know about that. The Supra succeed the 2000GT, and didn't that compete with the 240z? This would be a good question for @A70TTR.

I believe the weight gain is due to "Lane assist, Pre-Collision warning, Navigation, Parking assist, etc", on OP, and not a hybrid system.
I'm glad you brought up the 911. So the rumored specs aren't that far off from the 911 Carrera, and all at around $30k less.
