Some interesting points raised in this thread.
I've noticed 30min drive then park for 5min. Come back and floor it and vicious power - slipping from 1st to 2nd.
Then the other week I was cruising and coming up to a set of lights where cars were stopped I was in normal and floored it. No good...
I am Nov '19 built so similar to yours.
Have done around 2000 miles and no issue but am on original factory oil and first service is due in the next few months.
Perhaps they didn't fill it correctly at first service? I would get it topped to max and then regularly monitor.
These days you...
Yes noticed the same today in cold 45F/8C temps.
Is lots of fun but watch it as the supra has silly amounts of power and will slip even going from first to second gear.
What I noticed that works well is a gradual initial acceleration and then move the pedal faster.
Any initial stomp and...
I've noticed with my factory super sports that they need long time to warm up like 30 min + today at 45F.
Then they work and work excellently.
You'll get lots of squirrely slippage trying to accelerate smoothly with them on cold.
I recall my cup 2's did not suffer this slippage but then...
I'm at just over 2000 miles with my 2020. Still on original factory oil. Oil level continues to remain at the max level with mix of highway city driving and some hard pulls every now and then.
Safe driving and check out the poll at top of this page.. I'd say it's a fairly accurate assessment of...
Well if there is scoring, then the revised piston head could be problematic?? (just a hunch).
Perhaps the piston head is expanding at increased boost pressure/ temperature and causing the scoring??
I guess we will never know but what we do know is that this newer b58 hasn't been properly...
The new updated b58 with lower compression/more boost and revised piston head is still a work in progress. It is still unclear what is causing the loss of oil and where its going.
Borescopes of pistons reveal scoring is this right from what I've read in a previous post?
I gather a revision...
I did one higher than normal run above 4k during break in.
No issue at all.
Actually, the car feels better for it. With my previous car (focus rs) and break in never going near redline that car was always inconsistent power. (probably due to the crap mustang HG and other BS with leaking engine)...
Yeah same here.
I was thinking in normal mode may be best 1/4 mile runs as it moves quickly through the 8 gears whilst sports probably is best for the 0-60 runs as you use more of the gear to redline.
I have definitely noticed sports is much faster for the short quick fire runs 0-40/60.
