That's all they're doing with the FRS unfortunately... pumping out the same car without any updates, models, or much of anything exciting to keep sales up. Here they have this awesome small RWD sports car platform and they haven't done much with it in years when they could have spun out a whole...
But to simply drop in a BMW engine in the return of their halo sports car would be a total cop out. A car like the Supra is supposed to represent the best that Toyota engineers can accomplish and if they can't even engineer a proper engine for use in this car then that's not saying much for the...
Maybe for a full blown new concept version but may be appropriate for a real life sized Gran Turismo FT-1. Fits with the whole tuned/modified theme of the show.
I'm actually not worried about the power the new Supra will have. RC F is already pumping out more than 450 hp so 500hp for a Supra can't be that hard. But 500hp isn't a crazy number anymore these days for a top of the line sports car so its the other stuff that will hopefully make the Supra...
The most design I'd want it to share with other Toyotas is how much GT-R shares with the rest of the Nissan models, which is not a ton. If I am ponying up some serious $ for a top end Toyota sports car I'd like it to be unique and not have the same face as a Prius or Mirai.
Some people say that they re-trademarked it just as part of a company's regular intellectual property maintenance, but I think the timing is definitely not coincidental. The entire world is already calling it the Supra nyway :)
^^^ Exactly. Since the Toyota-BMW press release about their joint project talked about development of hybrid technologies, so maybe it's possible for the Supra.
Anything "hybrid" is viewed negatively by enthusiasts but I actually think a hybrid Supra could be a chance for Toyota to make a huge splash with the car and also redefine sports cars in its segment and at its price level.
Gas engine improvements only happen in increments now so you're not...
I might get flamed foradmitting this but I wouldn't mind a hybrid setup as long as the electric motor is small and there to provide support to the gas powered engine. Nobody laughs at the Mclaren P1 and that's a hybrid technically. It's got a huge powerful turbo engine and uses the electric...
Over the summer there were rumors that there were LF-LC coupes running around with 600hp twin turbo version of the RC F's V8.
I don't expect a Supra to get as much power as the SC (assuming that's what the LFLC is called) since it won't be as much $ but if it could get a detuned version...
