Hearing Masayuki Kai talk in the interview on the last page was welcome. One of the most straightforward talks from one of the head engineers on the MKV program.
He's like a little kid all over again trying to contain his excitement :)
It was cool of some dealer staff to have an A80, A70 and A60 on display too. And for JP to bring his own MKIV. The staff still being very reserved and professional were obviously enjoying the handoff event too.
Aside...
Sure. And why not? It's nice to see what this car would look like with a stick shift since that isn't about interior design choices but rather a driver interface function that can exist in any car's interior.
Other than that the render overall does not work well. I understand what the artist...
They have who knows how many years left while any manual can even technically be offered at all. People are clamoring for it on this infamous niche high performance tuneable car known all too well for carrying a strong manual transmission option throughout the range.
They just need to get the...
This is all making me curious again if there is some possibility that a CGI iron block might still be in the cards for a future variant.
If this current aluminum B58 block can handle 700hp so far with its closed deck design then with stronger pistons, rings, connecting rods and a stronger...
^^ I couldn't disagree more. AsupramkvC makes good points as to why this car really does need a manual transmission. If it were a $100k++ GTR R35 chaser out of the box with an automatic or DCT with AWD and 600hp++ stock then I'd understand there being no manual. But it isn't. It's set up to...
A70, do you have any thoughts on the limitations of the plastic manifold parts or how difficult it will be for aftermarket parts companies to offer cast or custom welded alternatives?
I know that this would effectively remove the charge air cooler from the upper right side of the engine but I'm...
I think this would be very easy to upgrade to by going through the parts EPC and ordering the parts to make a DIY install.
Then again... will .6 inch larger sliding caliper rear brakes really make that much of a difference? If the rear brakes between base and fully loaded trim levels were as...
I'm pleased to hear Tetsuya Tada's newest comments on this topic. A tiny bit more has been revealed as to the intent with this car and there seems to be less reticence to introduce a series production manual.
It feels like pulling teeth :D
I've got a very open mind about the ZF8. I have no...
It would be great if Toyota took on customer requests for previously discontinued part numbers through an online submission form of some kind. It would be up to them to decide which types of requests have the highest merit to pursue but that would be a very good way to gauge actual demand for...
I 100% agree with him about how fun the 86 is. I've had seat time in a 6-speed M/T version and a 6-speed auto version. Hands down the 6MT was my choice. I love the way it drives and it IS fun to drive at the power level it's at and with its 2700lb (thereabouts) curb weight.
Is it actually...
I've seen PerformanceSound on Supraforums recently. And he's been on Clublexus before with a vehicle build thread. He's around. I'm not sure why he hasn't been here recently though :dunno:
Nismo actually had their own Heritage Parts program available to owners in Europe and North America briefly? I had no idea.
No doubt Nissan must be aware there is demand from R32, R33 and Z32 owners on both continents who have original Z32's and imported GT-R's.
Manual transmissions only have so many years left in them as interfaces that even *can* be offered regardless of customer take rates. So to not offer one for this sportscar would be a truly bad missed opportunity that can never be revisited eventually.
Aston Martin is holding out, BMW's M2 and...
Over 500ft-lbs and just under 400hp at the crank...? Yikes! That's one hell of a stock engine!
Aside, no wonder a bespoke manual and clutch had to be developed.
Once modification factors in I can only imagine the torque this B58 will be producing. Which begs another question: what will the...
I'm totally okay with that. It's still not going to be slow, just not quite as fast as it is with the ZF auto. Although modifying it to put out another 100 horsepower or much more would cure that issue quickly.
Here's a generic web translation of the official press release including the GR Heritage Parts program:

Do you think they won't include the 1986-1999 ST165, 185 and 205 Celica GT-Fours in this program though? Or the AW11 MR2's?
The 80's RWD Celicas are probably going to be in the same boat as anything pre-1986 Supra :/ Same deal with the RWD Starlets probably.
My hope is that since they've benchmarked the Porsche Cayman GT4 which does offer a manual they'll also release a manual GRMN. A factory manual on the regular GR's would be ideal too for those who won't be able to afford the lower volume exclusivity.
