The RC is just a chop and mix of old platforms. They aren't going to be using it for anything else. Besides, they are switching to a global platform. All future RWD Lexus and some premium Toyotas will go to the GA-L platform.
I don't know, the weight differences between the Z30 and A80 was like what? 200-400 lbs depending on trim level and tranny option. At best I would think it would have been around the RCF's weight of 3,800lbs. I also believe A70TTR already address the use of the GA-L platform. One was cost, but...
I kind of get what you are saying, its hard to tell without seeing in person. Than again, there still isn't any vents or holes on the wheel arch itself. We'll just have to wait and see to know for sure, but my gut feeling is that it's non functional.
Its just a fake panel they attached to the surface of the door. Look at where the weather strip is at. Nothing inwards will have any vents. Also there are no vents on the wheel arch.
Edit: No, do you how hard it would be to stamp that whole door out of steel? It would be more cost effective to...
Yes they did. Camo or not, they are clearly from the F30 3 series.

If I recall correctly, Nissan was blaming the owners for not using the launch control correctly or something along those lines. And I'm pretty sure people had to fight for Nissan to repair or replace their trannys. Nissan wasn't just giving out new trannys left and right.
I can't recall many 6speed owners having issues with their trannys. Either way, probably still way cheaper to fix than the $10k-$12k tranny replacement on the earlier R35s.
Or we can get a $50k Supra and for around $10k do a 2JZ swap and sell back that B58 to a Bimmer fanboy thats on his 3 motor. Use the rest of the savings for a nice down payment on a second house/rental property.
But with a speed 6 tranny from Germany. :p
