Well that's called scoring. I think anything that your fingernail can catch is considered to be not so great. I believe some polish them to smoothen them up... But I can't comment on how common it is on BMW engines and it's affects.

Bumper side lips are so easy to install. There are few push-pins underneath that you can easily detach, then pull on them to remove. reverse repeat.. Middle one has a tab on the inner portion of the bumper, so it's either take out bumper (which is also super easy) or try to pry the 2 tabs...

That looks like a relay... Use the parts website to search for relay screw bolt under cowl, etc. Putting the part number on the part should help
