4500 miles, purchased Nov. 2020. By and large, this car is ignored where I live. Maybe 2-3 times someone has asked about it. I'm cool with that. I've owned other cars that get far more attention. It's a nice car, but it's not exotic-rare.
Parcel delivery is totally broken from China to North America. If you do order from Aliexpress, talk with the vendor and ask how much it would cost to ship via EMS. It's really the only reliable way to get anything today.
I've had a parcel delivery stuck in China for over 8 weeks now. No...
7/20 build, 4000 miles currently, still reads Max Oil level on the original fill. My exhaust tips don't show excess carbon, and nothing oily at all. My prior BMWs that burned oil (especially the N54 variants) all showed oily exhaust residue and fairly prominent deposits on the exhaust tips...
We have an M340i which comes with Sport Plus from BMW. The engine and transmission modes in Sport Plus are definitely different than normal Sport.
I coded Sport Plus on the Supra this week and got about 200 miles on fairly clear roads to test it out. Sport Plus behaves as it does on the M340i...
Many times, that makes it worse. The problem is friction on the latch. With enough pressure/friction, the relay can't move the catch from the latch. This friction comes from the pressure exerted by the rubber stops use to align the hatch. These two forces (rubber pushing up/latch pulling down)...
That looks like drips from the ship itself. Any steel-built ship is a huge, floating rust machine. Requires constant repainting and maintainence, and you'll always be dealing with rust, especially as water seeps through the whole thing and drips. Just a thought.
I'd be happy to have the Carplay crashes solved. These are out of control. My system crashes and reboots about 2/3 of my various drives. The audio source gets switched if *anything* happens to the phone (text, V1driver alert, notification). All software related, no doubt, so I'm hoping an...
The only issue I had running OBDFusion was the dongle would set off the car alarm anytime I locked the car with the dongle plugged in. Apparently, there's a way to code this off but I never found the specifics. How do you handle the dongle/alarm issues (assuming you've had the same problem)?
Back in the 90s, I had more fun running my 125cc Shifter Kart as well as an 82 Van Dieman Formula Ford in local/regional autocross events. I see the shifter kart finished 5th, after time corrections. I really should take the Supra to a local event; I haven't autocrossed in probably 15 years...
Really one thing, and that's Waze. The real-time police reports are invaluable for my regular 110-mile (one way) weekly commute. Waze + Radar Detector has bailed me out almost monthly. Sure, I could just run this off my phone, but it's so much nicer having it on the iDrive display, including the...
It sounds like you purchased a 3.0 model (not the Premium) and that it lacked the "Safety and Technology Package" option. Do you have dynamic cruise control or blind spot monitoring? I'm guessing you don't.
I don't think there's much you can do. Perhaps someone will figure out a way to code...
Have the exact same car as you. Best upgrade I can recommend is a steering wheel. Really, the only part that is lacking. Totally transforms the interior and the driving feel. The CF hood vents are an improvement over stock as well. You'll want to do some coding, mainly to eliminate the...
On top of the discussion here, please note that remote emissions sensing is a thing. Much like speed cameras, the technology has already been deployed which does roadside emissions measurements along with a license plate photo. It's inevitable that this will be more widely deployed. My...
I've avoided taking this into the local Toyota dealer, honestly. They know nothing about this car, and they'll want to keep it for days or longer. They can't even do a proper oil change, honestly. IMHO, Toyota should have worked a deal to have the BMW dealers service these cars, but they...
