TBH the BMW interiors have been better than anything Toyota has offered from what I’ve seen. Also the BMW infotainment system is far and beyond better than the one Toyota and Lexus use.
Looks outstanding. Looks like the DCT stick as well? Like the detail in the car dash display. I keep hearing I should wait at least one or two model years before buying but I don’t know if I can resist.
Pretty sure I read the 2jz was designed in Germany as well
Edit- “The 2JZGTE, is regarded as Toyota's most famous engine. Development of the 2JZ-GTE was outsourced to German engineering firm, Johann A. Krause Maschinenfabrik GmbH, for refinement to meet production car homogolation requirements...
The corolla (free) was the best car for me as I just graduated grad school and started my career. Thank you for the attempted insult though. I have no shame in driving a corolla which is why I listed it here.
Everyone here keeps mentioning how much money Toyota has and how they should do this or that.
They have a ton of money precisely because they don't cater to a vocal minority of enthusiasts who believe their point of view is the right/majority point of view on the subject.
This Supra probably...
How are you going to join a forum and not read previous discussions because you don't have time but still post walls of text with your uninformed speculation?
The new supra is expected at 45-55k with an upper trim model at 80k which will be a halo car.
If that's unaffordable for you, wait for...
It dipped this year by almost 7 percent. It's also being discontinued this month. Even if it wasn't discontinued it would probably have abyssmal sales after the whole major recall fiasco they had on the engine.
(March 24, 2018) "I got some clarification, not that it was needed, in that the manual thing was specifically in regards to BMW systems integration and not being worthwhile. I had thought to a degree that they were not willing to spend in general due to the way this was explained, but that...
That's from our forum insider. A7, he's been right about everything else so far. Go look at his post history.
Ya well the manual they have is on a toyota platform with toyota parts and testing. This is a BMW platform with BMW parts and they are letting BMW do most of the testing.
Toyota is...
Toyota estimated a 500 million dollar cost to adapt a manual with the Toyota Safety System and BMW i6 engine. They estimated a 20% take rate on the manual vs the automatic. The amount of people who would buy a manual MKV would not justify the 500 million dollar investment.
A manual didn't save...
Lol, who is "fighting" against you?
You all live in a fantasy world where you think having a manual Supra is somehow going to solve your problems. I've been following this forum for a long time. The most annoying thing is watching this ridiculous thread constantly pop up with useless...
"Porsche spokesman Paul Ellis said sales of the Porsche 911 7-speed manual transmission have dropped from 20 per cent a decade ago to just 5 per cent." (http://www.afr.com/lifestyle/cars-bikes-and-boats/cars/manual-cars-face-extinction-as-congestion-triggers-a-clutch-backlash-20150614-ghni7m)...
Everyone is entitled to an opinion here regardless of where they're from. Manual enthusiasts are an increasingly shrinking minority. Fewer and fewer compelling reasons can justify the existence of manuals in cars. So if you can see the writing on the wall then you can see why Toyota doesn't want...
Australian of the North is from the UK.
The manual is on its way out, sorry to break it to you. Clearly having a manual isn't that important to Toyota nor was it enough to save the MKIV from getting the axe.
I'm sure they have sources deep in the auto industry. I bet the 450 hp is the highest trim level from what A7 and these guys are suggesting.
450 might be too rich for my blood. I'm ok with mid 300s.
I also looked at the competition in the price bracket. However, I plan to daily this car if I buy it and none of the competition seem to be good DDs. Reliability and maintenance cost are an important consideration for me. Toyota has a history of reliability I can count on despite the BMW engine...
