I would also like to add that since the JB4 isn't a full-fledged tune, some customizations will be completely unavailable. You will never be able to adjust the 'burble' on JB4, tuning with BM3 gives access to higher ethanol content (more fueling control) and in-dash ethanol readout...
How is it not detectable by the dealer if you decide to remove the tune? I thought any alteration to the ECU can be detected, even if brought back to stock.
Thought I read a thread about the JB4 removing the safety parameters of the engine which was a disadvantage from a custom tune?
Its around $400 used
Not detectable by dealer when removed (to sell, for warranty work, etc)
Retains factory safeties and has built in safeties of its own that revert to stock map if it sees anything dangerous
up to 75-80whp gains on E30, and 100+ whp on methanol
Depreciation as in JB4...
It almost looks like it could be radiator fan duty/speed or something.
Trans temp is a gradual increase through the session. Here are two BM3 logs. This also mirrors what I see when I log the straight CAN trans temp ID#
A dumb question:
If I dont want to mess with E-blend, can I just get a bigger turbo(pure 800) + BM3(or maybe JB4 with help from Jesse?) to reach 500hp flat?
If it is doable, do I still need other mods to keep up with the bigger turbo? Like charge pipe.
And do you think it is worth to go with...
We’d need to get @bootmod support in on why ots is pulling high boost on oem. I didnt blow my turbos but after looking at the logs, I limited my boost to 23.8 I think, which is the max custom boost limiter.
Def a little slower but not worth the risk
The issue is understanding it all. Just because your adding boost and timing looks fine that doesnt mean its going to go any faster your just beating the car up and wearing parts faster. You have the car running 25 PSI and its basically running 12s at the track. This is where I probably should...
What else makes power besides boost and timing then? Provided timing (IAT and ecu_psi "cylinder fill") stays constant as the boost increases, i see no reason for a power drop.
Obviously at a certain boost level, IATs climb more quickly and drop base timing. I am pretty well read on how B58...
Yea I’m actually looking to go either mhd+ or bm3 maybe in the next 2 months. So I want something that can also be used with either of those platforms. Thank you for the heads up!
just waiting to see how that pure900 coming out performs!
I'm not running JB4, but if you're looking to cut costs, you really don't need an EcuTek tune.
BM3 comes with an OTS map at $595, and MHD with OTS maps is $433. The stock intake flows just fine, and would cost just as much as a bench unlock, if you happen to need one.
Fixed the boost leak I never knew I had. Explains the lower dyno #’s when I was on JB4/WMI and now BM3 OTS E50. Thanks to @zrk and @ColonelAdama for taking a look at my logs.
My dumba** never transferred the seal from the oem chargepipe that attaches to the turbo. ??♂️

Honestly with ACN91 fuel, you'll not be making much more power over stock either way.
So if you are locked ECU, I'd just do the JB4 for a small power bump, since it'll be much cheaper. ~350-450 secondhand typically. If you have ethanol available, that will help make way more power.
On a...
Bern77, i'm going to try to prevent you from getting absolutely flamed on here by the savages that haven't eaten in days.
JB4 works on any car, it's simple and just tricks the DME into allowing more boost (amount depends on the map). There is a guy Jesse on the forums here that will do a...
