Is the Cayman GT4 the laughingstock of the car world? 385bhp for around $90-$105k, yet it is considered a bargain for the amount of car you get.
The complete picture of the car is more than just power..
Of course there's value in the Porsche badge over Toyota, but you can't underestimate the...
Yeah torque curve and power delivery makes all the difference. Look at the Cayman GT4, 309lb-ft for ~$100k. But if you say that car is a rip-off because the Z is 1/3 the price for "similar performance" I'll take the Cayman and laugh at you in my rear view mirror. And this is coming from someone...
LOL is he still trying? I'm actually genuinely confused now, there's no way someone has that much of a lack of self-awareness.. He has to be trolling us..
Bespoke mirrors would be awesome! But in this render they don't actually look too bloated like in some previous pictures. Not as cool as some special mirrors... but they're not bad imo.
I bet that statement's not going to be very popular with some of the haters around here, but that's what the ignore button is for ;)
I think I read one of the reviews where it mentioned one of the trims might have sensors to monitor the road and perhaps actively manage the suspension, a la...
People will believe what they want to believe :p
I'm sure even when they come out with official numbers people will find other ways to question and hate on the specs.
The car will be ~1400kg/~3080lbs.
We already know the reception is going to be overwhelmingly positive :)
Who doesn't love a ~1400kg, ~380hp car with a stellar chassis?
With bolt-ons and a tune, this car will be even more of a weapon on the track.
I'm not denying the 0-60 calculation based on the power-to-weight. But the numbers you're starting with are incorrect. If you want to look at power-to-weight, the Cayman does 0-60 in 3.6s at ~3050lbs.
I've never disputed the z4's specs. But insider knowledge of the Supra being a couple hundred...
I'd rather believe the word of someone who has an inside connection than just.. "figuring" a random number that I want to believe out of my head. Your number is literally out of thin air.
FACT: A70 said the 2950lbs mule with 350hp does 3.8s.
FACT: car has more power now than when he was more directly involved with the project, AKA current testing mule has >350hp.
FACT: very recently engineers say the weight is around 1400kg, ~3080lbs.
Only thing to debate is if the production...
I've been saying this the whole time, Cayman weight, more power and torque. This car is going to be a beast!
Just because A70TTR's news was only "rumors" or "through the grapevine" suddenly people started throwing out random weights, 1500kg, 1600kg that weren't from any sources. The most recent...
Fair points. After seeing a lot of the sentiment about the older Supra, I can understand and sympathize with wanting and expecting a proper successor to the MKIV, which as you said, I believe this car won't be. I'm sorry for how the MKV is starting to pan out with regards to that expectation...
Same question, why will the Supra be slow? Cayman does 0-60 in 3.6s with 310lbs-ft, the Supra will have more torque with only a bit more weight..and it'll kill any mustang or camaro in the corners.
I'm still at a 9. Being in my early 20's, everything I've seen so far seems to be exactly what I want. I've been to the track a few times and love autox, so an affordable, lightweight, 2-seater only car with a tuneable inline-6 seems like a dream come true. I don't care what brand is stamped on...
You do realize that this "common sense" is just pure speculation right? And it's 1400kg, I love how people started adding weight. The power of pessimism is a beautiful thing.
Sorry, I've just been lurking, but I couldn't resist chiming back in. It's like you're trying to wage a 1-man...
So the new supra's engine is going to be more substantial than just some movie magic..
But actually though, I'd been seeing mentions of this CGI in the new engine and been wondering exactly what it was. Thanks for the post and the good info Guff :)
