I actually care, I had an E60 M5 and it was such an inconvenience to fill that car up frequently because the gas tank was small, the range was horrible.
You are correct. To elaborate, the GTR did change a lot and updated every year, whether minor engine mods, to suspension , steering, lots of cosmetics, and even at one point, the whole interior was revised, and that’s not saying the pricing increases every year. (69k when released, now over...
This was planned way a head of the 2020 model release, insiders from bmw have been saying this before the release of the 2020 model. So, in ways nothing to do with sales of the first year model, this was already planned and some of the guys warned people not to buy the first year model.
Really? Have you followed the GTR? How about numerous BMW’s like the current M2, which came out with the N55 motor, then switched to the S55. Or the M5, and the following year, the comp pack with more power, and other upgrades. Even porsche, when the GT3’s first came out with the 3.8 even in RS...
I could have sworn the earlier reviews from car and driver they liked the steering (not the best) and even said it had “feel.” Now, they are saying “numb steering??” So, which is it?
My biggest gripe with cars is them weighing 3600++, no matter how good, I find myself enjoying lighter cars, even cars like the 86 and Miata are very fun to me compared to the ZL1 or Shelby.
I believe the C5 vette didn’t really weigh too much, made 350hp base and in ZO6 form 405hp. But I agree, performance of the “base” model was competitive with the mkiv at the time.
That’s awesome and all, and I hope great success. I’m sure it’ll be a beast but I am one of those not in the market for a 4000+ pound luxury cruiser. Can’t wait to see what’s in store and drive it though when I comes out.
There are great electric steering racks on a lot of cars, there’s no excuse for bmw. The Mazda Miata, 6, and CX5 all have great steering and feel. Don’t get why bmw can’t do it or refuse to do it.
The E90 3 series I find good, but the M3 is a bit different, in a way more like how bmw does steering now but still better. Lighter feel, builds up with speed, still hydraulic though. I actually prefer the regular 3 series when it comes to the e90.
X2.
That’s real sharp. I’ve driven the AMG GTS and GTR, same goes for that car. Night and day compared to many of the other and past Mercedes.
How about compared to the BMW’s of yesteryear? I think the e46/e90, 1M, are the pinnacle of bmw steering. They cannot replicate that after going...
I respect the C8 but that article is rubbish, imo. People are going to buy what they like, some bargain buyers (not a bad thing) some will spend more for something they want, regardless. Again, I’ve stated this, nothing new here, American performance cars are and always will be a bargain...
