Interesting stuff... especially in light of the lack of news lately. But if I remember correctly that Australian website seems to post detailed news which often ends up not coming true.
I can't help but wonder why they would be built at the same plant. It's so strange to me, two very different companies, but I guess that is what this whole joint development was meant to be? Because it sure doesn't seem like Toyota did much of anything (so far from the rumors). Maybe they...
Looks like BMW plans to use the platform for a whole bunch of cars then, including a smaller MINI. Hope Toyota makes the best use of the platform too and makes much more than just the Supra with it.
Interesting topic.
Anyone know if Toyota has some kind of carbon fiber production plans of its own other than their relationship with BMW? Is the company going to just rely on BMW for carbon fiber permanently? Seems like lots of companies (Audi, Ford come to mind) have started thinking about...
Look at this interview with the Ford GT designer. He says they didn't even bother doing market research with the car - "we were just going to build it."

Badass attitude and...
If it really took until 2018 for this car to come out that would be one of the longer concept-to-production launches I can remember and the car would have lost all the momentum and interest it had early on. But I don't expect it to take that long. The BMW Z3/Z4 is set to be replaced before...
I definitely need it to stay under $60,000 price tag. Make it smaller than the concept. Give it a great power:weight ratio (I don't care about huge HP numbers for braggin rights).
And give it a nice interior please! This is going to be a very premium price for a Toyota so give it a premium...
All this carbon fiber talk is exciting and all but what does that mean for repairs if there's ever an accident? Is my car goiing to be 'totaled' much easier or can the carbon material they use be repaired as much as other materials like aluminum and steel?
Crazy that the 6 series weighs over 4000 pounds! What is the chassis made out of led?
Imagine if it weighed in mid 3000 pounds and then got the 500 pound reduction. All this carbon fiber talk is exciting and all but what does that mean for repairs if there's ever an accident? Is my car goiing...
But there would have been hints on a disguised car that it wasn't just a regular car like how that STI was totally hacked up. And even if there wasn't then it would be weird to see an old or current model running on a track during manufacturer testing days and/or it would be spotted with a car...
Definitely possible that there'll be some overlap in price and segment especially if BMW actually makes the Z4/Z5 perform well unlike the current models. Current Z4 is already $50k, so it's already in the ballpark price of what everyone here expects the Supra to be priced at. I think it'll...
Rad a rumor that BMW was going to the one to manufacturer both theirs and Toyota's model. Sounds like a Toyota-Subaru arrangement for the 86 cars if true.
I keep reading about all this carbon fiber rumors and that's great and all but what about repairs. I thought CF couldn't be repaired and is basically totaled and needs to be replaced completely when damaged. So if a car has a CF shell that means its going to be totaled much easier?
